Title: More Than A Friend
Series: A Cottage Grove Novel
Author: Amber Nation
Genre: Romantic Comedy Stand Alone
Release Date: October 13, 2015
Bentley Jenkins has lived in his older brother, Baylor’s shadow since the day he was born. Never feeling like he could live up to the high standards that was expected of him, he set out to make his own name for himself. Unfortunately, it wasn’t a well-respected one.
Playboy, smooth talker, ladies man; these were just a few of the names that he was directly associated with. He took pride in the fact that he never had to seduce a woman to get her to fall at his feet. Normally, a look, a wink, and a flash of his sexy grin was all it took.
Any woman would jump at the chance to be with him, so much that he’s never heard the word, no.
Until the woman who claimed to be infatuated with him for years.
Until the woman he now couldn’t seem to get out of his head no matter how hard he tried…
Placed him in the Friend Zone.
Miriam Armstrong changed his entire perspective on women and for the first time in his life, he found himself wanting to settle down, to be a one woman man. But first, he needed to prove to Miri that the chemistry between them was worth being pursued, and that he wanted to be…More Than a Friend.
Other titles in the Cottage Grove Series include:
More Than A Memory
More Than A Fling
The third and final installment in the Cottage Grove Series. More Than A Friend can be read as a complete standalone with a HEA.
For two people that seemed so different, they find something so similar in the other that surprises them both and fills the empty they both feel. I loved that Miri is this equally independent and feisty woman that is also clumsy and awkward. She has lived most of her life just wanting to be loved and to find her way after losing her parents and her whole life as a teen. She has her somewhat crazy grandmother Tillie and her best friend Oliver, but after finding out her long-time boyfriend was an a%% she’s been on the outside looking in as others find there happily ever afters. Bentley Jenkins, however is never without a warm body but he doesn’t have an interest in anything more. Not that is until he sees Miri at his brother’s wedding, feels an attraction and she promptly shuts him down and locks him into the dreaded ‘friend zone’. As Bentley goes about actually becoming Miri’s friend, they both find that staying friends may be the hardest thing ever. And just when Bentley realizes that he is in fact falling in love with this crazy, wonderful woman her ex comes crawling back. Travass, as Bentley so decides to dub him, throws both Bentley and Miri for a loop. So what’s a girl to do when she has two men vying for her attention? Well if you’re Miri you freak out. If you’re Bentley you need your mom and brother to knock some sense into you!
Overall, this was a fun and enjoyable read! While all the books in the Cottage Grove series can be read standalone, I totally want to go back and read the others! I enjoy Amber Nation’s writing style and her character development is really good as well. Hope that you will give her books a shot!
