The New York Times bestselling author of Wallbanger and Rusty Nailed is back with Nuts, the first in a brand new series set in New York’s beautiful Hudson Valley.

Roxie Callahan is a private chef to some of Hollywood’s wealthiest, and nastiest, calorie-counting wives. After a dairy disaster implodes her carefully crafted career in one fell ploop, she finds herself back home in upstate New York, bailing out her hippie mother and running the family diner.

When gorgeous local farmer Leo Maxwell delivers her a lovely bunch of organic walnuts, Roxie wonders if a summer back home isn’t such a bad idea after all. Leo is heavily involved in the sustainable slow food movement, and he likes to take his time. In all things. Roxie is determined to head back to the west coast as soon as summer ends, but will the pull of lazy fireflies and her very own Almanzo Wilder be enough to keep her home for good?

Salty. Spicy. Sweet. Nuts. Go on, grab a handful

4.5 Stars for Sugar Snap & Farmer Boy!!

What a fun read from Alice Clayton!! She never seems to disappoint me from the standpoint that her characters are going to be interesting, funny (with a side of snark) and there is definitely gonna be some heat. Roxie Callahan and Leo Maxwell have all these things in spades from my perspective!

The chef and the farmer, what could be better right?! Roxie doesn’t want to be back in the Hudson Valley that she left years ago, while Leo fled to the Valley to find his passion. Two people on somewhat different paths; so what happens when their paths collide?! Well for one, Roxie starts making amazing food and wowing all those folks that she felt just saw her as her mom’s klutzy daughter. Two, Leo teaches Roxie all about his incredible farm and the things that he loves about growing and producing naturally. Three, Roxie connects with her high school crush who now only has eyes for his equally hot husband. Four, Leo begins to crash thru Roxie’s walls and some of his own along the way. Five, the two of them together were just chemistry for days good!

Seriously, here’s a girl that basically takes on the mentality of sex with no strings. She’s here for the summer only, they are both down with that and begin a fling that quickly morphs into more before they realize it. The two of them together is easy, natural, they just fit. I loved when Roxie was thinking about how she never “slept” with guys, well she rarely slept given her insomnia but with Leo she did. She says, “he didn’t spoon. He ladled.” I loved that!! This was a great, easy read. Not too much angst, just enough. Lots of laughs and crazy catastrophes(hello peas, nuts and a**hole bees!). But there are also plenty of sweet moments and steamy smexy time moments too. I was definitely rooting for Roxie & Leo!

4 Stars

Foodie talk, sass and a hot farmer, that’s exactly what Alice Clayton delivers in Nuts and I totally enjoyed it! This was such a fun and yes, sassy read! I love Alice’s use of foodie talk in her books, as a Food Network junkie it so speaks to me!

Roxie escaped her small-town life and has become a successful private chef in Los Angeles, but when one whipped cream moment goes wrong, she finds herself in some professional trouble. At the same time her mom needs her to come home and look after the family diner so she can go on an adventure herself. Reluctantly, Roxie agrees, but only temporarily.

Leo is a former city boy who has embraced the farm life. He loves the small town, the people and growing food. He’s turned the Maxwell farm into a magical place for the whole community, with community programs, supplying food and making it a town experience all around.

I love the connection between these two, it definitely had me cracking up! Roxie is so quirky and clumsy and sassy and it’s the perfect match for laid back, farm boy Leo. Their first few interactions were so funny and epic that you just know a great story is to follow. What starts as a smoking hot summer fling turns into something more, deeper than either had planned but there are definitely some surprises in store for both Leo and Roxie.

I really found this to by a fun and heartwarming story! Roxie is fun and confident but she also guards her heart after watching her mother go through men all her life. Not sure she really believes in the whole true love thing made it even better to watch her fall for Leo. I really enjoyed that their story wasn’t overly dramatic or angsty, yes they have issues to deal with but overall I enjoyed the feel-good fun story Ms. Clayton delivered! There is a perfect blend of chemistry, giggle and romance! And absolutely fantastic nicknames – Sugar Snap – loved it! I’m definitely excited to see what comes next!
