Who loves ya? Well I have to say I have a new love – Riley Mackenzie! Abruption – wow – this story captured my heart right from the very beginning. I absolutely loved these characters and their journey. They don’t have an easy one, no it’s met with challenges and loss but it really is beautiful.
Guy Hunter is a single dad with 2 young kids, one with some serious health issues. He’s also a strong and respected doctor. Jules is a nurse, who ends up helping with Guy’s son Finn one night when he’s rushed into the ER. While Jules and Finn hit it off from moment one, it’s not quite that easy for Guy and Jules. Finn and Maxie are really special, wonderful kids who definitely can steal the show! After their initial clash though there is something special there, an attraction that just cannot be denied.
Both Jules and Guy have experienced great loss and both are carrying secrets and pain, but together they learn to laugh again, they learn to love. (And those were some of my very favorite moments.) These two just fit together right from the start for me. I adored their interactions and their strong personalities coming together. They made me laugh, they made me cry and oh they made me feel.
As I mentioned before, they don’t have an easy story, but oh my heart was rooting for them. Their journey together involves dealing with real issues and real pain. This was one of those stories though where you just feel that these two were meant for each other.
The writing was fantastic, the story completely capturing my attention and my heart. I felt like I knew these people, and fell in love with them! Guy’s kids are fantastic, I guarantee you will love them so hard! There were bits and pieces revealed at a time, making it a must for me to keep reading, to know more. The story kept me wondering and when the twist is revealed – holy hell, that rocked me.
Abruption was my first Riley Mackenzie book, but certainly not my last. I adored this story and the beautiful characters they created. I would definitely recommend this book!
