Practice Makes Perfect (Housemates #3) – Jay Northcote – Release Blitz, Review Tour & Giveaway
Dev, a geeky first year physics student, has zero sexual experience and he ís determined to change that ASAP. After a bad time in halls of residence, he ís starting the summer term with different housemates and a new plan of action.
Ewan lives in the house next door to Dev. He ís young, free and single, and isn’t looking to change that anytime soon. When awkward circumstances throw them together, Ewan offers to help Dev out in the bedroom in return for maths tutoring, and Dev jumps at the chance.
NB: Although this book is part of a series, it is a complete story with different main characters and can be read as a standalone.
I’m a big fan of Jay Northcote, love the writing and the characters and the storytelling and Practice Makes Perfect is a great addition to her stories! This is a fun, pretty low-angst read and I totally fell in love with Dev and Ewan!
Dev is a bit shy and a bit awkward and certainly a lot on the geeky side, but he’s also sweet and absolutely adorable. After a rough start at school he’s now in a safe, gay friendly house and is looking forward to new experiences. He even has a list – and on that list is making friends, losing his virginity and finding a boyfriend.
Ewan lives next door to Dev and after seeing his profile on Grinder and his request wanting experience, Ewan decides he’s the right for the job, not to mention safer. The two agree to an arrangement where Dev with help tutor Ewan and Ewan will be the one to help Dev gain sexual experience.
These two have a great and natural chemistry together. Despite having very different personalities, they are great together. Dev is very literal and analytic and Ewan’s teasing and cute and it plays well together. They do form a quick bond together and despite their initial intentions of no feelings-sex, both men quickly develop feeling for the other. Of course, there are misunderstandings and assumptions made on how the other feels, but these two figure it out.
Again, I loved Dev and Ewan together, they certainly are hot and steamy together but also sweet and loving as they work their way through friendship and eventually more. Practice Makes Perfect is a great combination of sweet and sexy with great characters you can’t help but fall in love with!
