Wicked Bond (The Wicked Horse Series Book #5)
Release Date: September 13, 2016
Bridger Payne is an enigma that no one can figure out. Wise beyond his years, eerily intuitive and sexy as hell, every woman in The Silo wants him.
None can have him.
Not the real man, anyway.
He might wield the lash for you if you ask prettily, but he’ll get no gratification from it. He’ll definitely make you scream, but he won’t think twice about you when he walks away.
Bridger carries the darkest of secrets. He’s filled with too much pain.
He’s utterly untouchable.
Until she came along.
**Warning: this book has sex in it. Lots of sex. Dirty sex. The Wicked Horse Series is a bit different than what Sawyer Bennett normally writes. While you’ll still enjoy fabulous characters, a suspenseful story, some witty banter and an epic romance, there’s just… a lot of sex. You’ve been warned.

I have loved every minute of this series! I loved the first time Sawyer introduced Woolf Jennings in the last book of her Last Call series so long ago, but from the time Wicked Fall came out and I got my first hint of the enigma that is Bridger Payne I knew his story would be worth the wait! I am so happy to say that I was completely right in that assumption, because Wicked Bond was everything and then some. Mystery, danger, sadness, laughter and so much sexual tension and chemistry. While this story was more about the characters and less about time in The Silo, it is still an important factor in understanding who and why Bridger Payne is the man he is.
Initially I really thought this guy is dark and broody and ‘does he have any emotions?’ But then we start to see him be the loyal, supportive friend to those that are lucky enough to be let into his circle. That’s when you start to realize that something really bad happened to close Bridger off and that it’s true in a way that he “needs The Silo like air” to make him feel okay in his skin. There was something tragically wonderful about him to me, and as more of his story is revealed you see what a survivor he is and how focused he is on the now that he can’t see a future other than the one that’s in front of him. So when Maggie and all her brokenness is literally dropped on his doorstep, he both doesn’t want her there and can’t turn her away. Maggie opens something in Bridger, and he in her that scares them both. There is an inexplicable trust between them, as well as crazy chemistry. Maggie’s story was almost as sad as Bridger’s, the only difference is Maggie’s demons are still hunting her.
Amidst all the drama and hiding is a story of freedom and passion and acceptance that I could not put down! Both Maggie and Bridger have pasts that are haunting them. Maggie is starting to come alive in so many ways with him, and Bridger is allowing himself something with her that he never thought he’d have – even if he is fighting it. I appreciate that despite their stories Sawyer didn’t write either of them as a victim. Maggie is fierce and stubborn, something that I think Bridger both needs and admires. I loved seeing Bridger’s circle of friends be there for him like he’s always done for them as well. And yes I loved all the sexy goodness that Sawyer creates once again, because it wouldn’t be a Wicked Horse book without it! But it was Bridger’s story and he alone that gave me all the feels. This is definitely one of my favorite series from Sawyer, and being that it was a spin-off of another series that I absolutely adore from her I shouldn’t be surprised!! Now I’m just sad that it’s over, because I’m gonna miss the shenanigans of The Silo and these amazing characters!
