Blurb:

My FallenCon agenda is simple: sit on a couple of panels and let people meet the real me. Jesse Garvy—mod of a famous Twitch channel and, if I ever come out of my shell, future vlogger. I definitely didn’t plan to sleep with a moody tattooed fan-artist, but he’s gorgeous and can’t keep his hands off me. There’s a first time for everything, and my first time with a guy turns out to be the hottest experience of my life.

But the next day, I find out my moody fan-artist is Ian Larsen AKA Cherry—someone I’ve known online for years. And he’d known exactly who I was while shoving me up against that wall. Before I figure out whether to be pissed or flattered, the con ends.

Now we’re back online, and he’s acting like nothing happened. But despite the distance between us, and the way he clings to the safety of his online persona, we made a real connection that night. I don’t plan to let him forget.

5 Stars

I absolutely love this series, and it just keeps getting better and better with each book! Jesse and Ian are adorable and geeky and wonderful and complicated and I loved them so much even when they made me absolutely crazy! Hard Wired is one of those books I didn’t want to put down and having to do things like sleep and work frustrated me because I needed more time with Jesse and Ian!

In this book of the Cyberlove series, the focus is on the mods from Kai’s Twitch channel. They know each other only online, and Jesse only knows Ian’s internet persona of Cherry. When they finally meet as stand-ins for Kai at a con Jesse has no idea that the dark, gorgeous artist Ian is actually Cherry. Ian though knows exactly who Jesse is, in fact he’s had a crush on him for a while now. The two have instant chemistry when they do meet and Ian plans to tell Jesse everything but it doesn’t always work out the way we plan.

These two don’t have it easy, nope not at all. Both men have major struggles and while their chemistry is off the freaking charts when they are together, real life issues tend to make it very messy between them. I really felt for both Ian and Jesse and their struggles felt very real. Ian has a past filled with pain and lacking real love and because of that, he’s divided who he is into different personas. He’s a geeky guy in sweats, he’s all dark colors and sexy piercings poured into tight pants as an artist and he’s cheerful good-cop as a mod. They are all a part of him and how he copes with life. When he and Jesse connect, it’s hard for him to keep everything separate, especially when Jesse doesn’t seem to understand. Jesse on the other hand is shy and careful, not always willing to go after what he wants, but when he discovers it’s really worth it he learns to stand up.

These two together are prefect and crazy, they bring out the best in each other even though it seems to be the hardest thing for both of them. Ian absolutely broke my heart at times, but I adored him and his journey. He’s that character you just want to grab and hug and love until he believes he’s worth it and thankfully that’s Jesse! I loved the progression of the story, all the feels and finally that moment when both Ian and Jesse fight for what they have and for what they want. This series has become a fast favorite for me, every book makes me feel so connected to these characters and their journeys to finding love. It’s fun, it’s nerdy and it’s heartfelt and I cannot wait to see what is next!

The Geekery Book Review interview with Megan Erickson and Santino Hassell

What has been the best part about writing this series?

Megan: Probably the readers. We were surprised at the way readers took to this series, and interacting with them about the characters is so much fun.

Santino: Agreed. When we published STRONG SIGNAL, we had people write in their own stories of online love and the response was amazing. So many people had found love online.

What was the inspiration for these books?

Megan: Santino and I have both spent a lot of time with online relationships in our lives. I met my husband online. And so to us, it’s realistic and contemporary to base a series around couples who met online. It’s a different dynamic for sure than couples who first meet in person.

Santino: Yup. I think if we keep writing, we’ll start going into other directions instead of strictly gaming because this is relevant in numerous ways. Even dating websites, which is kind of the only way to meet people these days despite all the interesting meet cutes I come up with for my books.

What’s a typical work day like?

Megan: I take my kids to school, writing/edit in the morning, break for lunch, then write more before I pick them up. I work after they go to bed, too.

Santino: Day job then writing. I usually write in all my free time, so there’s not that much actual… free time.

If you could be any one of your characters for a day who would it be and why?

Megan: Kai! I don’t know why. He has a cool life with Garrett.

Santino: Costigan so I can be that swole.

What books are you reading right now?

Megan: I just read an ARC of INSIGHT by this guy name Santino Hassell. It was awesome!

Santino: I just read an ARC from Suz Brockmann’s upcoming Navy SEAL book, and I love it so much.

What’s up next from you?

Megan: The next in the Silver Tip pack series will be out this summer, then I’m kicking off a vampire series this fall that I’m SO excited about! I’m also working on a romantic suspense series about hackers.

Santino: INSIGHT (thank you, Megan!), which is a romantic suspense novel about a gay psychic trying to solve a murder and getting swept up into a big conspiracy.

Just for fun, if you could have a superpower what would it be?

Megan: I wish I had unlimited funds to help people. So, not money for me, but unlimited funds to donate to others. I know that sounds so do-goody, but I mean it.

Santino: I’d be El from Stranger Things. I want all of her powers.

About the Authors

Megan Erickson

Megan Erickson is a USA Today bestselling author of romance that sizzles. Her books have a touch of nerd, a dash of humor, and always have a happily ever after. A former journalist, she switched to fiction when she decided she liked writing her own endings better.
She lives in Pennsylvania with her very own nerdy husband and two kids. Although rather fun-sized, she’s been told she has a full-sized personality. When Megan isn’t writing, she’s either lounging with her two cats named after John Hughes characters or… thinking about writing.

Santino Hassell

Santino Hassell was raised by a conservative family, but he was anything but traditional. He grew up to be a smart-mouthed, school cutting grunge kid, then a transient twenty-something, and eventually transformed into an unlikely romance author.

Santino writes queer romance that is heavily influenced by the gritty, urban landscape of New York City, his belief that human relationships are complex and flawed, and his own life experiences.
