Happy release to Sarina Bowen! I’m so excited to share with y’all about this book, and I’m really looking forward to reading the rest of this series!! The True North is set in Sarina’s Vermont and evokes all the things that I know to be true of that area. This book surprised me in ways as Alec and May built a friendship and more, all the while dealing with their own struggles. I really loved this couple, and now I really want to know all the backstories of their friends! Happy reading! ~ Amber
Speakeasy (True North #6)
Sometimes you fall for Mr. Right. And sometimes for Mr. Right Now…
Did you hear the one about the girl who walks into a bar and catches her live-in lover kissing someone else? No? You’re the only one in town who missed it.
Luckily Alec is there to wrap me up in strong arms and carry me out the door before things get too ugly. And that’s not all Alec is good at. Our unexpected chemistry makes him the perfect rebound guy.
I should know better than to hook up with my rival’s little sister, but the fiery look in May’s eyes really turns my crank. She needs cheering up, and I’m just the guy for the job.
It’s not like I’ll fall in love. Not even after a string of scorching hot trysts, and the realization that we’re good at the same things: wild nights and familial disappointment. I don’t do love, never have, never will. So this is the perfect arrangement, for both of us.
Nobody would approve, but nobody has to know…
What a great story by Sarina Bowen!! I’ve been wanting to read this True North series for a while and somehow Speakeasy is my first, even though I have most of the rest in my library. Standalone, interconnected series are definitely a favorite of mine for just this reason! Alec and May were fantastic together! Both are seen as a bit of a mess by their families. Both have some insecurities. What’s starts as friendly support turns to hot hookups, but when feelings start happening things get good and complicated. I loved the flow of this story. Ms. Bowen is always so good at developing her characters, and at weaving humor with strong emotions. Once again I’m left feeling happy and wanting to visit the places and the characters.
