Absolutely one of my most favorite series I’ve ever read! I seriously don’t say that lightly, but these characters created by Heidi McLaughlin just grabbed my heart from the first time I read Forever My Girl way back in 2013, and they’ve never let go! I’m so happy to have The Geekery Book Review be a part of this review & blog tour. If you follow me at all you know that I adore Heidi and frequently share my love of all things Beaumont. So I hope that you enjoy my thoughts on this series and that if you haven’t experienced them, that you take a trip there soon.
Happy reading! ~ Amber
Forever My Girl (#1) – Released Dec 2012
Now being made into a major motion picture
I was never supposed to be a rock star. I had my life all planned out for me. Play football in college. Go to the NFL. Marry my high school sweetheart and live happily ever after.
I broke both our hearts that day when I told her I was leaving. I was young. I made the right decision for me, but the wrong decision for us. I’ve poured my soul into my music, but I’ve never forgotten her. Her smell, her smile.
And now I’m going back.
After ten years.
I hope I can explain that after all this time.
I still want her to be my forever girl.
I’ve read this book 4x and counting and it gets better each time! The first time was early in 2013, just a few months after it released. I have to say I was drawn to Liam from the beginning, this idea of returning to your hometown- to the place you left your heart after so long to mourn and pay your respects to a friend that never left your soul and more importantly to the girl who still owns you heart and soul.
When Liam first sees Josie again and meets Noah, what a game changer this story became for me. Knowing that neither of them ever really lost what they felt for the other, it became this beautiful ride of emotion both for Josie and Liam. This was also true as Liam and Noah learn to be father and son. What began as just a wonderful second chance love story has become a series that I have connected with over and over. To say I love these characters is an understatement. One of my all-time faves for sure!
My Everything (#1.5) – Released March 2013
When Nick Ashford lost his friend, Mason, he didn’t realize he was going to lose his family as well, but that’s exactly what happened. Alone and in a foreign country, Nick is working on rebuilding his life one patient at a time, that is, until a striking volunteer makes her presence known.
Can Nick finish his year in Africa without risking his heart being broken again, or is he willing to start a new chapter in his life before his return to Beaumont?
I have to say reading this shined a new light on Nick Ashford for me, because I was so not a fan when I first met him in Forever My Girl. So when I read this one I did so with some reservation and a whole lotta, “if Heidi thinks she needs to write his story then I better read it because it’s necessary”. Well, I’m happy to say that my thinking was right on the money!
Nick leaves Beaumont after his break up with Josie determined to get as far away as possible and throw himself into his work. He doesn’t expect to find Aubrey, but I’m so glad he did! These two fit each other so well and I loved watching their relationship build. I also liked watching his interactions with those around him in the village, as we get to see more of who I think Nick really is instead of the jealous man we first met. Returning to Beaumont with Aubrey was both redeeming for Nick, but also scary because of all he left behind but in the end he does find his own forever and that was worth the journey.
My Unexpected Forever (#2) – Released Sept 2013
I expected a life of music.
I expected to raise my son.
It took one look to make everything change.
I never expected happiness.
I never expected to find her.
I never expected to feel desire.
I never expected I’d be a family man.
I never expected to be loved.
I never expected to fall in love.
They say you should expect the unexpected, I didn’t realize my unexpected would be the forever kind.
Words truly fail me in trying to sum up my emotions surrounding this book! Harrison and Katelyn’s story is full of so much heart, heat, laughter and just sweetness.
Harrison James may be covered in tats, but his soul is pure and loyal and true. He’s the best father ever to his boy Quinn, a kick-a%% drummer and a fantastic friend. He’s also drawn to Katelyn Powell from the first time he lays eyes on her. He knows she’s still grieving the loss of her husband, and for a while he’s somewhat content at just being her friend. He wants more though. He wants her and her girls. He wants to build a life with her, but can she let herself have a chance at building something new?
Katelyn Powell had known since she was sixteen what her future was going to look like, and for a while she had it with Mason and her twins. But then her world imploded, and now she’s just trying to put the pieces back together and move forward toward a new life but she never expected Harrison.
This story seriously was so full of EVERYTHING! I love this man! He is so, so fantastically amazeballs! Heidi created magic once again in the continuation of her Beaumont series. This is really the book that starts bringing it all to a new level, as we start to see more layers of the people that love Liam and Josie while also seeing them work toward a forever of their own.
Finding My Forever (#3) – Released Dec 2013
Everywhere I look, my friends are settling down – marriage, children, white picket fences; but not me. Marriage isn’t in the cards for me. I’m a ladies man.
A rock star.
I was born and raised in the industry.
I love everything about my life, especially the attention from the women that my status brings me.
Women find me. I don’t chase. I know what they want and they know I’ll deliver.
But after one look, one touch, one night…
Now I’m the one doing the chasing.
I need to find a way to show her that I’m serious, that I can change.
I need to find a way to show her that I can love her fully, and only her.
I need to find a way to show her that she’s my forever.
Jimmy Davis (JD). He’s the jokester. The Brit. The third man in the band. The ladies man. Yes he is all these things, but Heidi shows us in Finding My Forever that he is so much more! I loved JD, his wit and easy-going charm; but I also loved who we see him become with Jenna. This story was about two people that seemingly couldn’t be more different, but who together create a balance and a love that make everything make sense.
Jenna is drawn to JD, even if in some ways she doesn’t want to be and doesn’t trust that she should. She’s been burned in the past in some really severe ways, but with JD she just seems to know in her heart that he’s her home. But despite this she is hesitant and Jimmy is determined to show her that he’s all in to love her, to create a forever with her.
So, so many twists and turns to their happily ever after. Heidi proves once again that she is an amazing storyteller! I laughed, screamed, cried and wanted to throw my ereader, but could not stop reading!
Finding My Way (#4) – Released April 2014
Liam Westbury has the world at his feet. He’s the quintessential golden boy. He’s the superstar quarterback for Beaumont High. His girl, Josie, is head cheerleader. He has his choice of colleges just waiting for him. Except he’s suffocating from all the pressure he’s under and no one understands.
Liam Page is the heartthrob he never wanted to be. He’s successful, smart and in demand by record companies and his adoring fans. Music is his passion, his love, but something’s missing. His nights are lonely and he longs for the girl he left behind. Seeing her in every face in the crowd haunts him with the knowledge that she hates him. Going home has never been an option until now.
Be there when Liam Westbury becomes Liam Page and follow the highs and lows of the Quarterback turned Rockstar as he finds a way back to Beaumont in this prequel to Forever My Girl.
This book was utter perfection for me. Nope not even kidding a little bit. Finding My Way was all I had hoped it to be and more. I guess I should share that I adore this Beaumont Series so much and so if I could give it more than 5 stars I so would!! This may be number four in the series but it’s really the prequel to the entire series and puts into place the 10yrs that Liam Page Westbury spent away from the people he loves the most. If you haven’t read the rest of the series, what are you waiting for?! No really, my love (and slight obsession with all things Beaumont and 4225 West) began almost 2yrs ago when my friend Sarah found and read Forever My Girl and said “I just read this great book and you’ve got to read it too!” Well let’s just say I not only fell in love with the story but couldn’t wait for more about these amazing characters to come out! So getting to fill in all the blanks of Liam’s story completely from his point of view? Yes please!!
“Your life takes on a different meaning when you break your own heart…”
Sometimes reading prequels can leave you feeling flat because if you’ve read the remainder of the story what new things can you possibly learn, right? But Heidi McLaughlin does such a masterful job of bringing the characters to life and showing you all the angst and turmoil, fear, guilt and self-hatred that Liam was faced with as he makes the hardest decision of his life. Even knowing that eventually things are going to be okay didn’t stop me from feeling so sad for him, first in dealing with the truly awfulness that were his parents (Sterling and Bianca Westbury were deplorable!) to the despair Liam feels when he begins to doubt the football plans he and Josie had created for their future. Seeing him know that what he needs most is just what his grandmother encourages “follow only your dreams” was tear inducing. But then in following those dreams he will be leaving behind not only his girl but the family he loves in Mason and Katelyn was even worse. Throughout Forever My Girl we were given glimpses of the past first of Liam in high school with Josie (QB1 and his cheerleader) and then of his musical life, but getting to experience his rise to fame and his becoming Liam Page was not what I expected. Seeing Liam come in to his own musically was gratifying, seeing him become so shut off emotionally and engage in a ‘one night stand’ series of encounters was just depressing. But it was his relationship with his grandmother Betty, her total belief in him that touched me greatly and broke my heart for Liam when he loses her all too soon. I also loved getting to see he and Harrison forge their friendship from the beginning, the way Liam looked up to him and the way Harrison encouraged the music between them. Then we have all the drama with psycho Sam (ok I maybe liked her for about 2mins, but yep total psycho), knowing the way that she manipulated Liam even in the early days of the band made me hate her even more. It was clear that despite the years that he stayed away from Beaumont, his heart and peace were always residing there. That Liam basically tortured himself with his guilt, even though his reasons were rooted in the knowledge that unless he followed his dream of music he would never be whole, it was really an emotional thing to read. So all in all watching Liam try to decide who he is the quarterback phenom Westbury or the rock god Page, at the end of the day Liam finds that following your dreams may change, the path of your journey may change but your destiny never does if you follow your heart. “Home is nowhere and everywhere I guess”, says Liam; but I think in the end he comes to realize that his home is Beaumont and his heart was always with Josie and that taking the chance to reclaim it all may be what he needs to feel whole once again. Can’t wait for what’s next!
12 Days of Forever (#4.5) – Released Feb 2015
Even though she’s living her life-long dream and dancing on Broadway, the city is a lonely place for Yvie James. The holidays are both her favorite time of the year and the worst. A last minute decision puts Yvie in Beaumont to spend time with her family.
Alexander Knight is new to Beaumont, but he’s making the best of it. His dream of running a successful business is within his grasp, and Xander has a dedicated client base most trainers vie for. On the surface, Xander is happy, but he works long hours for nothing more than to avoid going home to an empty house.
Thrown together for Christmas shopping, holiday gatherings with friends and family, and a special anniversary party, Yvie and Xander find themselves seeking solace in each other for an unforgettable, romantic winter.
What a fantastic novella for the Beaumont Series!!
Xander came in as a trainer/physical therapist at the end of Finding My Forever, and I was intrigued for certain. So we pick up months later that he’s opened a gym in town and has become friends with the 4225 West crew.
Enter Yvie James, Harrison’s younger sister whom we’ve seen over the course of the series as well. She’s in Beaumont for the holidays. She’s also miserable in her New York, Broadway existence. She’s looking for more in her life. Looking to find a sense of self and of home.
These 12 days and maybe a little more are full of exploration and lots of chemistry between the dancer and the trainer. I loved this glimpse at what could be between Xander and Yvie! I also loved the glimpses of our favorite Beaumont friends as well! It’s definitely a must read if you love this series!!
My Kind of Forever (#5) – Released Sept 2015
Liam Page knows music and a life of solitude, but that all changed when he returned to Beaumont.
The once notorious bad boy lead singer of 4225 West is now living the domesticated life with his wife and high school sweetheart, Josie, and their son, Noah.
Life is good for the Westbury family, until Liam is called back to Los Angeles and the place where it all started for him.
Liam and Josie’s story continues in this last installment of The Beaumont Series.
Words. I need words and I’m not sure I have them adequate to express what this book and this series have done to me. Getting ready to read this book and knowing that this was the last in the series was emotional enough, but then I started actually reading and it sucked me in and wouldn’t let me go!!
Liam and Josie are living their forever, but things aren’t always so easy in life and neither are they for our favorite couple. They are struggling with growing their family, and in the midst of this Liam is called back to his past. So many things come to light. So many things have and continue to change for both Josie and Liam, as well as Noah. While they’ve been focused on their family, Liam’s band has been floundering a bit. So going back to LA to help a friend and figure out how to sustain the band’s dream may not seem like a bad thing, it brings up lots of old hurts and fears. The emotions that Liam and Josie deal with were intense, and seriously about wrecked me!
While we see everyone in this story, which I loved, it’s really about Josie and Liam. About having faith in your partner. About life coming full circle. About knowing who is most important in your world. About friendships and love and the courage to fight for what’s right. Such a wonderful, bittersweet and amazing story and series. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it here again, Heidi created magic with this series in each and every book and I’m so glad I got to experience it!!
