BISHOP SULLIVAN
I’ve always known what my future had in store: inheriting the family ranch and having myself a wife and kids to carry on the Sullivan name. Porter Dixon never factored into those plans. We may have spent our teenage years sneaking away to lose ourselves in each other, but he always held me at arm’s length…until the day he up and left without so much as a goodbye.

PORTER DIXON
After everything I’ve lost in my life, it’s important that I keep myself tightly guarded. Especially around Bishop Sullivan. Dad would be rolling in his grave if he found out I was shacking up with a Sullivan, given the bad blood between our families. But eleven years after leaving, I’m back in Laurel Springs with something to prove: I don’t need the Sullivans, nor their land.

Except, damn it all, Bishop has this way of burrowing under my armor. The magnetic draw between us is still too hard to ignore, and what starts out as boss and ranch hand quickly turns into stolen moments and simmering encounters that make it hard to stay angry.

I want to think that love can conquer all and tame my wild heart…but the past isn’t so easy to forget.

CW: References to familial history as well as a side character dealing with alcoholism

4 – 4.5 Stars

I love a good cowboy romance and Riley Hart and Christina Lee definitely deliver with Bishop and Porter! And not only is it cowboys but its second chance and is just full of all the feels! There is a lot to this story and I really liked that it felt like I got to know both Porter and Bishop and got a good understanding of their backstory. It all made for a very well told story and wonderful character and world development.

Bishop and Porter have such a deep connection that goes back to high school years, but they have a very complicated situation. Bishop’s family owns a large thriving ranch that Porter believes should be his, at least part of it, if the stories are true. He certainly believes them and believes that it was Bishop’s grandfather who stole the land from his grandfather and there’s anger and resentment that Porter’s father carried and Porter now carries. He and his mother both now work on the Sullivan’s ranch and while his mother seems happy, Porter definitely carries that resentment. Further complicating everything is the attraction and connection that Porter and Bishop share, along with their secret hookups that no one can know about. When tragedy strikes though and Porter turns to Bishop what he sees sends him running from the Sullivan ranch and not looking back. Years later Porter finds himself back though and looking for a job. He’s one of the best around when it comes to horses and just what the Sullivan ranch needs, but that means facing Bishop again!

There is a good amount of angst in this book, these two love so deeply but have both been hurt so deeply that it takes them some time to heal and open up to each other again. But once they do, wow their love is something so intense and stunning. There is so much passion and emotion between these two and I so just wanted them to find their happiness, they both so deserve it. I really loved seeing the healing they both experience and that allows them both to truly open up and love each other the way they were always meant to.

Overall, I definitely enjoyed this book, even if it made my heart ache for a while it’s totally worth it for the satisfying and heartwarming way it all comes together.  Love Bishop and Porter and their much deserved HEA!

Blog Tour & Review: Morgan by Riley Hart

Dusty worships my body in ways no man has before

Morgan, an all-new friends to lovers, small town, M/M romance from bestselling author Riley Hart is now available!

When I left Birchbark angry and heartbroken, I vowed never to return.

Fate had other plans.

The father I hate had a stroke, so now I’m back in the Upper Peninsula to take care of him. The locals treat Dad like royalty, while Dad vacillates between open anger and flat-out ignoring me. Throw in my messy relationship with my brothers, and being in Birchbark becomes unbearable.

The only saving grace is Dusty, my childhood best friend. He’s always had my back, save for one night ten years ago that changed everything.  Despite my endless family drama, Dusty becomes my solace, and it’s not long before our emotional connection becomes more. Dusty worships my body in ways no man has before, but more importantly, he’s stolen my heart. Except Dusty’s home is here, and mine is in Santa Monica, as far away as I can get.

While I’m battling it out with Dad and trying to hold the family together, my every impulse is to leave the first chance I get. But I can’t leave Dusty behind. Not again. If I want a chance at real happiness, I’ve got to work through this anger and grief…even if the hits keep coming.

Morgan is a small-town, friends-to-lovers romance with all the feels, heat, and character development you expect from a Riley Hart novel. It deals with themes of grief, loss of a parent/sibling (off-page), and toxic family relationships.

4.5 Stars

I am really excited about this series and I loved Morgan! This book just hit me in the feels right from the start and I really didn’t want to put it down. I love a second chance story and this one really hits all the marks for a really good one – you’ve got best friends, a big misunderstanding, a ten year grudge, dysfunctional family and two men who’ve been in love with each other for their whole lives who may just finally get their chance to find happiness.

Morgan is returning to his hometown after his father has a stroke, it’s not something he wants to do because everything there is bad memories and pain but he’s said he’d come home to help for the summer. That means dealing with his brothers and his father but it also means Dusty, the man he ran away from 10 years ago. But, no matter what happened, these two still have deep deep feelings for each other and that’s evident from the first time they see each other again. There is a lot of pain that these two have to work through, but there’s so much love between them that once they start working through things they both very much want to make it work this time around.

I really loved Morgan and Dusty together, they are just the definition of meant to be! Morgan has lived a very lonely, closed off life since moving away and having Dusty back makes him see what real happiness looks like. And while they find each other pretty quickly, it’s not an easy journey, Morgan still has to work through his relationships with his brothers Rhett and Easton as well as his father. There’s a lot that unfolds for this family, some absolutely heart wrenching and some heartwarming.

I really did love this book and loved seeing Morgan and Dusty find the true love and happiness they’ve always deserved! I am looking forward to more in this series and really hoping we get all of the brothers’ books! A definitely must read!

Keep reading for a look inside Morgan!

Easton is thirty minutes late. This is the first time in two months, so I try not to get too frustrated, but it’s hard. Because Morgan spent so much time taking care of his family, I spent a lot of time with them too. In many ways, Easton feels like a little brother to me. While people on the outside know what the Swifts have been through, I saw it from the inside. I felt it through Morgan, as much as someone other than a Swift could feel it. So yeah, I have a bond with Easton. I care about him a whole hell of a lot, but this is also my place of business, and being professional is important to me. “Sorry I’m late,” the tattooed blond in question says as he comes in through the shop’s heavy metal door. Dusty’s Collision Repair is my baby. I’ve always loved putting cars back together—not the fixing of mechanical parts as much as the body work. It’s really all I’ve ever wanted, which is why Easton not taking it as seriously is like sandpaper against my skin. Leaning against the wall, I stare at him a moment. Sometimes it’s hard to believe he’s the same little kid who was the first diaper I ever changed, hard to believe he’s Morgan’s little brother. As far as I know, my ex-best friend doesn’t have any tattoos, and Easton is covered in them. He’s the only Swift who didn’t go to college or who has a record. I guess it’s possible those things have changed with Morgan in the last ten years, but I doubt it. “East, we talked about this. You know your shit—you’re probably the best apprentice I’ve ever had—and it’s clear to me how much you love it.” I’m not sure East has ever loved anything the way he does auto body work, much to Mayor Swift’s dismay. “But I can’t keep letting you get away with—” “Morgan’s back,” he interrupts, making my heart drop to my gut. I guess I shouldn’t be surprised, not with Gregory’s stroke, but then I know how Morgan feels about his dad, and about Rhett—and clearly about me since he left town and never spoke to me again. I wasn’t sure my goddamned heart would ever recover. Sometimes I’m still not sure it has. Case in point, my words are still lost to me after the two simple ones East spoke. Morgan’s back. I clear my throat. “And you were with him?” Easton shakes his head. “Haven’t seen him yet. Just thought you might want to know. I won’t be late again.” Cleary done with the conversation, East heads over to the SUV we’re fixing after it was rear-ended, and he gets right to work. I shouldn’t let him get away with that. I should say something, any-fucking-thing, but I don’t. Morgan is back. I’ve often wondered how much Easton or their dad know about our loss of friendship. Rhett is at the center of it, so he knows. Plus, he and I struck up a friendship after Morgan left. Rhett and Morgan went years without talking at all, but now they call each other when it has to do with the family. Rhett wanted to tell him to call me, but I nipped that in the bud. No good would come of it. All it would do is make Morgan pull away even more. The idea of Rhett going to him about anything would get him all up in his head, automatically on the defensive. The Swifts are all tangled in so much family drama, so much pain, that none of them can see any of it clearly. Not my problem. None of it is my problem. But I’ve sure as shit done a good job keeping myself entangled with them my whole damn life. First through my friendship with Morgan, and then in the way it was blown to hell. “Fuck,” I groan to myself before heading to the paint stall, where I have a Honda waiting for me, hoping it will keep my mind off the Swifts, but knowing it won’t.

I moved to San Luco to get to know my brother, and so far, it’s been great. Working as a bartender at Shenanigans, a bar close to Franklin University, there are beautiful men and women everywhere. When a hot guy falls into my arms at a party, I’m down for some naughty fun. Until I realize he’s way too drunk for anything to happen. Thankfully, we agree to meet up the next day.

One near kiss later, I discover Theo has no idea I’ve been hitting on him. He thinks we’re hanging out as buddies, and to my great regret, says he’s straight. How did I misread this situation when I thought he was giving me all the right signals?

Theo

Perry thinks I’m a nine…a nine! Sure, I’m not into dudes, but it’s flattering that someone as attractive as him thinks I’m hot. Despite the confusion, Perry and I click and agree to keep hanging out. The more time I spend with him, the more I realize there’s a part of myself I’ve been ignoring. One that’s super bi and wants Perry as more than a friend.

Trying to study with him makes things hard for me…below the belt. Unfortunately, his abandonment issues have him open to a fling and nothing more, while I’m catching feelings in a big way. Can I be satisfied with a hookup? Or should I find a way to convince him to take a chance on making this something real?

One feels he’s not worthy of love. The other fears he doesn’t know how. But the sizzling chemistry between them has both tempted to explore the unknown.

Cyrus
I was intrigued by Crow at first glance. Who wouldn’t be? He’s a mountain of a man, who was raised in a cult and now lives secluded in the wilderness. But the draw I feel to him goes beyond mild interest. When his intense gaze falls my way, it feels like he can see into my soul, to my deepest yearnings and desires.

I took a bold chance venturing to his mountain uninvited. But I can’t help myself. Despite Crow’s dangerous facade, I feel at home when I’m near him. I’ve never felt wanted or needed…until the mountain man took me in his arms.

Crow
The mountain is my home, the only place that truly suits me. I reveled in my solitude…until Cyrus showed up looking as lonely as I felt. The warmth in his gaze made me welcome someone into my home and my heart when I never have before.

The way he smells. The way he feels. I come apart with his every touch. The past haunts us both. Yet when we’re together, the weight of it is manageable. Cyrus is mine, and I don’t ever want to let him go. Still, I fear that eventually he’ll want to leave the mountain, and for the first time in my life, I don’t want to be alone.

On the Mountain deals with depictions of mental illness, past substance abuse, an MC who was raised in a cult, childhood abuse/neglect and trauma. For a full list of warnings, please use the look-inside feature to read the content warning at the beginning of the book.

Wow – this is a book that totally surprised me, in the best possible way! I love a good hurt/comfort read and that’s what I was expecting with this and it was that but it was so much more. This book was intense and raw and emotional and I just couldn’t get enough of Crow and Cyrus. It’s not an easy read, these two have been through so much pain and faced so many struggles and it’s really laid out for the reader to see and feel, but it is so very worth it. These two have a journey of discovery, healing and ultimately such a beautiful love and happiness that they truly deserve.

This is one of those books that I don’t want to say a whole lot about in regards to the actual story because I think it really just needs to be experienced. I will say though that I loved the unique relationship that builds between Crow and Cyrus and how they find and embrace what works for them. To others it may look weird or broken but it’s what they need and this really is their story. It’s heartbreaking yes, but it’s powerful and beautiful and it completely captured my heart.

If you listen to The Vers, a queer podcast I host with my three best friends, you know me as The Charmer. I’m always happy, flirting, and trying to win everyone over. I think most people would be surprised to learn I have a lot more going on beneath the surface.

But ever since all my friends have fallen in love, it’s getting more difficult not to feel left out…

Cue my fascination with Spencer, my neighbor who hates me. There’s something addicting about getting under his skin, and I blame the combination of my confusing emotions and too many drinks for spilling my guts to him about all my insecurities…and about how much I love cuddling.

Turns out, Spencer doesn’t hate me, and my word vomit is the catalyst that makes us decide to be cuddle buddies. When I need affection, I go to him, and he just…holds me. Along the way we become friends, and when I fall for him, it’s surprising that he feels the same. Spencer’s easy to talk to, fun to be around, and did I mention he’s hot? I love how confident he is in his full figure, and there’s nothing like being in his beefy arms.

Spencer has me wanting more for the first time in my life, and he’s determined to help with my disordered eating, but if I want a healthy future with him, I need to work toward being healthy for myself too.

The Charmer is an opposites-attract romance with a body-positive MC and a cuddle fiend learning to love himself.

*The Charmer deals with disordered eating, low self-esteem, and negative talk about weight. While the story is uplifting and none of these are heavy-handed, please see the content warning at the beginning of the book for a full list.

After the death of his wife, Tanner Rowe takes a step toward making her dream come true and buys the house with the dilapidated barn she’d been inexplicably drawn to in the picturesque Upper Peninsula. But after a year, he still can’t get past his grief long enough to make the repairs he’d promised.

Recently out of prison, Cole Lachlan has little to his name. Homeless, broke, and without many options as a felon, Cole heads to Red Bluff with hopes of a second chance. There, he meets Tanner, whose loneliness mirrors his own and soon, Cole is trading room and board for rebuilding the burned-out barn on Tanner’s property that hasn’t been touched in seventy years.

Turns out, the barn holds a lot more secrets than either of them could have imagined. After unearthing a hidden journal from 1948, Cole and Tanner spend their evenings poring through the pages and reading about a young man pining after his best friend. As they delve deeper into this forbidden affair from the past, the more Cole and Tanner’s own relationship shifts—from acquaintance to friend…to undeniable attraction.

But as they begin to deal with the newness of falling in love amid Cole’s past and Tanner’s loss, they also become more determined to unravel the mystery of the young lovers who’ve captured their hearts, the rumors about the fire, and what really happened that fateful night.

Wow – this book was a punch in the feels! Holy moly, I feel like I’m still recovering but what a beautiful story! I think it’s very important to keep this spoiler free, this is a story that just needs to be experienced!!

Tanner and Cole are two men who are a bit broken and a bit lost in life when they meet. Fate has brought them together though and they are about to experience one hell of a journey together! It’s beautiful, powerful and heartbreaking as these two form a friendship that develops into something deeper and experience a journal that tells a tragic tale. Through it all there is healing and love and acceptance and it absolutely owned my heart! This is an absolute must read book!

Excerpt

Tanner’s eyes snapped open. He didn’t know what had woken him so suddenly, but the moment he did, he realized he’d fallen asleep with Cole on the couch, that Cole’s head was on his shoulder.

It was a little weird…and a little not weird…or maybe he was looking for it to be weird or not? As he sat there a moment, focusing on the heat of Cole against him, the feel of his head on his shoulder, it felt good. Christ, Cole felt good to him.

It wasn’t the first time that seeing Cole, touching his skin, studying his hands or his back, felt right. That truth hit him in the gut, so the moment Cole groaned in his sleep and turned his head, Tanner slipped out from under the blanket.

For a moment he considered trying to lay Cole down. Did his knee hurt? Was the position uncomfortable? But he didn’t know how to do it or if he should do it, and he suddenly really fucking needed to get out of the house.

Tanner shoved his feet into his shoes. Thankfully, he was wearing jeans and a tee he’d put on before going to look for Cole last night. His keys were on the kitchen counter, so he swooped them up and quietly sneaked out of the house.

Last night had been…something. How he could breathe easier after the loss of Emma, how much Cole’s friendship meant to him, Tom and Charlie, and falling asleep on the couch. It was…a lot, and he wished like hell he had his fishing supplies so he could go fishing.

So what could he do?

Guilt made his stomach tumble because he knew Cole would wake up and wonder where he was, might even think he’d done something wrong, which he hadn’t. Tanner just didn’t know how to do…whatever he was doing. It was like he was learning how to live again.

He drove around for a little while, taking in the small town he and Emma had loved. What would she think about his friendship with Cole? He knew Emma, and she would be glad Tanner had him, that he’d allowed himself to have someone.

The more he drove, the more he began to feel slightly foolish for leaving the way he had. Who cared if they fell asleep on the couch together? Who cared if having Cole around eased some of the weight in his chest?

So instead of driving around town for no reason, Tanner turned and headed for the general store. He’d get some bacon and eggs, then go home and make breakfast for them.

As next in line for the Evergreen crown, Prince Merrick Davendall’s future involves ruling, marriage, and producing an heir of his own. But he’s long been tormented by desires that are far from princely. Especially when the beautiful Cassius is promoted to be his new valet, and Merrick is struck by a longing like never before—a longing to know him far beyond royal and servant.

After his father’s passing, Cassius Havendale’s sole duty is to provide for his family. A promotion to serve a pampered prince is something he endures only for their sake. Surely Prince Merrick has no understanding of true suffering of the common people, nor could he possibly understand what it’s like to desperately desire something he cannot have.

Except the prince is not at all what Cassius imagined. Kind, humorous, and caring to those in need, he also shares Cassius’ affinity for the arts. In fact, Merrick understands his deepest vulnerabilities in a most remarkable way.

As their affection deepens, the underlying tension between them becomes unbearable and they’re unable to ignore it any longer. But when the queen prepares a lavish ball with all the eligible ladies in the land in attendance, Merrick must fulfill his obligations to his country, and Cassius has the needs of his family to consider. They’ve long known their stolen moments would have to come to an end, but are they ready to give up one another and the idea of a happily-ever-after?

Wow – what a heart-felt fun fairy tale read – I absolutely loved it and was completely consumed by their world! Merrick and Cassius absolutely stole my heart with their love story, ALL THE FEELS!

Prince Merrick thinks his life has been planned out, he must marry and produce a royal heir, the problem is he just isn’t attracted to women. He knows his fate and is resigned to it, until he gets to know his new valet, Cassius and realizes he will never be happy with a future that does not involve loving him. The two cannot resist each other and begin a secret affair, opening their hearts to each other. They know it can’t end well but they cannot help themselves.

I absolutely adored these two, with my whole heart! Both are such good men with kind hearts, Merrick wanting to do good for his kingdom and Cassius wanting nothing for himself, only to provide for his mother and sisters. There was something so magical about this story and the relationship these two build together, it was a story I felt. It’s clear to see Merrick and Cas falling for each other that just makes your heart burst, but there’s also that underlying ache knowing it has to come to an end. Christina Lee and Riley Hart do an amazing job of capturing the emotion of these two on this journey. I laughed and cried and swooned my way Ever After and I loved every second of it.

Ever After was everything I hoped for and more! Two wonderful men, one a prince and one a poor employee, finding their happily ever after! It is romantic and charming and one I know I will read again and again just to revisit these two, a new favorite for sure!

EXCERPT

“Now you are all set,” Cassius remarked, slipping the national Evergreen sash over Merrick’s neck and adjusting it over his shoulder.

Merrick was entertaining the Duke of Cairn this morning for brunch. The king would be joining them this afternoon for ice fishing on the property. Apparently, the royal family of Cairn were avid fishermen, and when the king mentioned it a few weeks back on his visit, Merrick’s father told them about Evergreen’s abundance of freshwater trout. Merrick did not exactly enjoy the sport, but Cairn was Evergreen’s closest ally, and it was important to entertain them properly while they discussed pressing matters, including Merrick’s royal visit to their lovely countryside in the coming months.

“At breakfast I overheard the cooks going on about how handsome the duke is,” Cassius mentioned casually as he smoothed down Merrick’s coat and then picked at some lint on the lapel.

The change in topic threw Merrick, and when he did not respond, Cassius glanced up curiously at him. Merrick smirked as he wrapped his hands around Cassius’s waist and pulled him closer. “You are jealous.”

“Of course not!” he declared as his neck turned beet red. “I was only relaying the gossip in the castle.”

“Hmmm, that’s very peculiar since you’ve never seemed to be affected by gossip before,” Merrick remarked, backing him against the wardrobe, the innocent look in Cassius’s eyes completely charming.

“What are you doing?” Cassius asked, his gaze flashing toward the closed chamber door.

“I don’t give a flying fig whether the duke is handsome or not. I have never paid him any mind.” Merrick kissed his cheek. “What I do know is that a stunning man is standing before me, driving me completely mad. And I long to take his prick into my mouth.”

Cassius gasped and swayed toward him. Merrick wondered if Cassius felt just as feverish after spending such a sweet and intense moment in the woods the other day. He only dreamed to know more of him before it was too late.

“It is all I thought about last evening after you left me in the parlor room with the conservation committee,” Merrick added with a groan as he gripped the waistband of Cassius’s trousers. “I want you in my bed every night. In my arms. But I know it is an empty wish.”

“We…shouldn’t,” Cassius replied in a gruff voice even as he sank against Merrick, his prick already hard as the steel jousting stick on display in the Great Hall. “You make it quite difficult to properly concentrate on my duties.”

Merrick drew back immediately, searching Cassius’s eyes. “I am sorry. I do not want you to feel any sort of regret.”

“Never.” Cassius grasped Merrick’s hand and placed it against the bulge beneath his zipper. “But now I shall go around all day with the front of my pants uncomfortably tight while you socialize with the handsome duke.”

Merrick hissed and then promptly dropped to his knees before the valet.

Riley Hart is the girl who wears her heart on her sleeve. She’s a hopeless romantic, a lover of sexy stories, passionate men, and writing about all the trouble they can get into together.

She loves reading, flawed characters, and hanging out with her husband and children, who she adores. She and her family live in Southern California, soaking up the sunshine while also missing seasons. Not a day goes by that she isn’t thankful she gets to wake up and do what she loves.

Life is good. Riley also writes young adult and new adult under the name Nyrae Dawn.

Once upon a time, I lived in New York City and was a wardrobe stylist. I spent my days shopping for photo shoots, getting into cabs, eating amazing food, and drinking coffee at my favorite hangouts.

Now I live in the Midwest with my husband and son—my two favorite guys. I’ve been a clinical social worker and a special education teacher. But it wasn’t until I wrote a weekly column for the local newspaper that I realized I could turn the fairytales inside my head into the reality of writing fiction.

I write Adult, New Adult, and M/M Contemporary Romance. I’m addicted to lip gloss and salted caramel everything. I believes in true love and kissing, so writing romance novels has become a dream job.
