They say you can’t go home again, Adam Klay doesn’t intend to until the death of his father, a famous artist, forces his return to Skagit, Washington. Cleaning up his father’s chaotic life was never on Adam’s bucket list. Worse, Adam finds himself inexplicably drawn to the elusive, terminally-clumsy, gorgeous, Micah Ryan. No way is he getting involved with someone from his hometown, he’s always insisted the best view of Skagit was in his rearview mirror.

Micah Ryan has been coasting on auto-pilot since his family was killed in a car accident a decade earlier. He runs a web business and has an irritable cat. He hardly leaves his house, unless it is for his afternoon espresso. His world tips upside down when Adam Klay rolls into town. For the first time in years, he feels alive. Unfortunately, Micah’s return to the living has been noticed and is not appreciated.

Someone has a secret. Someone is exploiting the vulnerable youth population in Skagit. Teenagers are disappearing, young women turning up dead, the dirty secrets of Skagit are surfacing.

3.5 – 4 Stars

I loved the idea of this book – that blurb totally caught my attention as I am a huge fan of mystery and romance together. There is also that element of opposites attract that I really enjoy and I think overall, Elle Heaton delivers pretty well.

Adam doesn’t want to be back in his hometown, he has an open case involving a child he needs to focus on, not on the memories of his childhood. But, with his father having recently passed away and everything in Adam’s name he has no choice but to return. He quickly meets Micah, he’s clumsy and attractive and everything Adam doesn’t need in his life. Micah really hasn’t been living life since his parents and sister were killed in a car accident years ago, he’s just going through the motions. When he meets Adam though its like something in him awakens and he can feel again. Even though Adam is just there to go through his father’s place, not in any official capacity, when dead bodies start turning up he becomes involved in the case.

I loved Micah and Adam together, even as different as they are, they just belong together. Adam’s gruff and grumpy nature are soothed by Micah, and Micah comes alive around Adam. We really get to know a lot about these characters and their lives, I really liked that about this story. There’s a lot of history and it builds the story and the characters very well. I also liked the blend of romance and mystery, it’s easy to fall with Micah and Adam all the while holding my breath waiting to see what was happening next in the action. This story kept me guessing up until the end, the mystery as well built up and the romance.

I did have some issues with the flow at times, not quite sure of transitions but as I read and became more familiar with the writing style it seemed to get easier. Overall, I enjoyed the story line and adored Adam and Micah. I am looking forward to more in this series!

Home is where the heart is, right? Except when it’s not. Not when you’re afraid for your life.

Joey James has given up on finding his ‘Prince Charming’. There is no such thing, he needs to be realistic about his chances of a lasting relationship. A chance encounter with a former school mate at the local grocery store changes everything-maybe. Before Joey can decide what to do about it, he is swept into a terrifying scheme. Forced into helping a dangerous stranger in exchange for his family’s safety, Joey begins a perilous journey into the criminal underbelly of Skagit. He will do whatever is needed to protect his family.

Buck Swanfeldt had a secret crush on Joey James in high school. Social anxiety and a two-year age difference made it impossible for him to approach Joey then. Life since high school has been challenging. And lonely. Eight years later, fate brings them together and Buck decides to act. He utterly fails. He would have left it at that, except fate seems to be intent on pushing Joey in his direction, and clearly Joey needs someone at his back.

Dark, sordid secrets hiding in Skagit are bubbling to the surface, danger lurks in unexpected places. Buck has never been anyone’s hero but something about Joey has him throwing caution to the wind. Together the two men take on a dangerous force greater than themselves. But sometimes our worst enemy is ourselves.

4 Stars

Oh this series just got even better! I absolutely adored Buck so much, with his sweet heart and good nature. He’s shy and adorable and just my favorite. Oh yeah, and Joey is pretty awesome too! This really is a great addition to the series, bringing the story and the characters much deeper.

This book focuses on local mechanic Buck and nurse Joey. The two went to high school together, but Buck is a few years younger and unfortunately for him, Joey doesn’t seem to remember him. Buck has had a crush on him for a while and just when he decides to act on it, Joey’s life ends up being turned upside down. He’s thrown into a world of what looks like child trafficking and some type of mob, only going along with their demands to keep his mother safe. Buck can tell something is going on with Joey and next thing you know they are both involved, trying to save kids and stop these horrible crimes.

I really enjoyed this book, diving deeper into the dark side of this small town. Joey and Buck are both wonderful men who find themselves thrown into some terrifying situations. Despite their sweet attraction to each other, danger always seems to be around the corner. I was definitely rooting for these two, Buck and his sweet naiveté truly deserved to his happily ever after! But just as it looks like things may be working out he is forced to deal with old demons and struggles to move forward.

I really liked Adam and Micah but Joey and Buck totally stole my heart. Their journey together definitely wasn’t easy but their chemistry together was and I loved seeing that develop. Even when they struggle, it’s clear they want to be together. Even if that means asking for time and help! There were times that this book had me totally swooning, holding my breath and even a few moments of heart break, but it was a totally engaging read. I seriously love these two and can’t wait to see where this series goes next. It was also great getting to see characters from the first book so involved in the story still and meeting new ones too! Overall, a very enjoyable read but make sure you read book 1 first so you know what’s going on!

Rescuing a cop from a burning precinct is in Max’s job description; falling in love was never part of the deal.

Max Harrison moved from the city to take up a role as assistant to the mayor, while also a volunteer firefighter. When he meets Finn Ryan in Ellery, he falls in lust that burns as hot as the fires an arsonist is setting in town.

Finn Ryan is a cop, and somehow he’s attracted trouble. Going back into a fire to rescue the town drunk is just the start. Now he has to rely on the man he’s falling for to make sure it doesn’t end with him dying.

A firefighter and a cop – need I say more? Seriously though, this was a fun and quick read that was action packed for both Finn and Max. I really liked these two and loved how their relationship developed even amidst the chaos that seemed to be all around them.
When the police station is deliberately set on fire, Finn rushes in to save someone who’s in lockup, even if he’s the grumpy town drunk. When Max is called to the scene he rushes in to save Finn, and he gets there just in time. Despite injuries and smoke and fire, these two click immediately, they have an undeniable chemistry. Though, as they try to get to know each other Max gets pulled away for fires started around the town and Finn keeps ending up in dangerous situations, certainly seems like it’s personal. These two try to figure out who is after Finn and why, and in that process totally fall head over heels for each other!
I loved these two together, yes there’s insta-love but it just feels right. Even though this is a quick read, it’s full of action, super hot chemistry and sweet love. The romance between Max and Finn is tied in with the mystery of who is targeting Finn very well and definitely held my attention. I love that this a start of a series because I can’t wait to see more of these two as well as get to know the rest of the group better!

The Teacher & The Soldier

Soldier, Daniel Skylar, falls hard and heavy for school teacher Luke Fitzgerald. How can he make him stay in Ellery?

Luke Fitzgerald left Ellery Mountain for college and vowed never to come back. When his abusive father is murdered, he has no choice but to return. Luke only goes home to sell off his share of the Ellery Mountain Cabins, but everything changes when he meets the son of the other owner. Daniel Skylar lives every day to the limit and sees a future in Luke.

It doesn’t matter what Daniel says, or how much he needs Luke. Luke isn’t staying once everything is sold off. Surely Daniel can understand that what they have between them is just a two-week fling; there is no way it could be love.

Can Daniel persuade Luke that they are in love, and they can build a future together?

jenn-review
4.5 Stars
RJ Scott definitely knows how to write broken men and completely nails it with Luke! Oh, he just broke my heart and had me rooting for a super schmoopy HEA for him. Daniel is the perfect match for him, able to work through his panic and pain and I absolutely adored these two! I was already a Daniel fan after The Fireman and The Cop but totally fell for him and his story.
Luke is returning to Ellery for the sole purpose of signing some papers, settling his father’s estate and then getting back out. He doesn’t want to be there, with the memories of his abusive father who was recently murdered. Half of the property Luke’s father owned belongs to Daniel and his mother and while the two don’t start off so well, they find something special together.
Daniel may come off as the tough former Marine, and no doubt he’s tough, but he has such an amazing heart! Between his goals of opening a facility for soldiers coming home with PTSD to his compassion, understanding and love for Luke, he’s just amazing. Initially these two intend to spend two weeks enjoying each other and their super chemistry but as Luke prepares to leave both men realize they have much deeper feelings than they ever expected.
This story gave me all the feels! I didn’t expect that much emotion packed into a short story and I loved it! The relationship between these two felt so real and raw. Once again, I love this town and these characters and am already ready for the next book.

The Carpenter & The Actor

Jason is running from tragedy, hiding in Ellery, but it’s only when he meets Kieran that he finds love.

Jason McInnery, hounded by the paparazzi after his brother’s death, runs to the one place where he hopes people won’t sell him out. The place where he was born. Hiding in the tourist cabins at Ellery Mountain Resort out of season, he thinks he finally has room to breathe.

Kieran Dexter is a man who knows what he wants; gorgeous actor Jason tied up and begging. When the hottest sex he’s ever had turns to feelings of love, he’s faced with convincing Jason to give them a try and stay in Ellery.

jenn-review

4 Stars

Another great addition to the Ellery Mountain series! I love all of these characters and the fact that they are all part of each other’s books and meeting the new guys! Kieran is exactly what I thought, spunky and sassy but adorably sweet as well. Jason is a great match for him, strong and caring but a challenge as well.

It was fun to see the differences in these characters, Kieran is a carpenter and a humble, small town guy while Jason is a well-known and very successful actor from Hollywood. He needs some down time where he can hide out as he still tries to come to terms with his younger brother’s death a year ago. These two meet at the cabins and with the rest of this crew, something that starts out as a couple weeks of fun turns in to more.

These two were sweet together, right from the start. Kieran is certainly attracted to Jason but doesn’t swoon over him because he’s famous, he genuinely likes him. They do make a great couple, actually giving each other what the other person needs so easily and naturally. I also loved how they understood each other and neither man had to give up who they were to be happy together, they figured it out together.

I seriously love this series and can’t wait to start the next book! These Ellery Mountain boys are some of my favorites!

The villain of his memories is proving to be a decent guy, but has he really changed or is Xavier just a new goal to chase?

I have definitely enjoyed this series and was really looking forward to Xavier’s book and I wasn’t disappointed! I’m a big fan of second chance stories and this book hit all the marks for me when it came to that story line. I was totally rooting for these two and their much deserved HEA!

Xavier and Trent dated in high school and had plans to go to college together, but when Xavier made the choice to put his family before going off to college, Trent ends things and walks away. Over a decade later neither man has really moved and when reality hits Trent with a wake up call, he knows he needs to try to fix things with Xav.

I really felt for these guys, they had a wonderful love at a young age, but that same young age had them making quick decisions where both men ended up hurt and angry. When Trent returns to Ashe to try to make things Xavier really makes him earn it. Xavier doesn’t want to get hurt like that again and has to decide if he can let Trent back into his heart. I loved how these two come back together though, realizing that their love for each really never disappeared. These two have struggles to face though, it’s not all easy, even when they think they have a second chance. They have to learn to trust each other and work together, and it’s definitely tested.

I really enjoyed their journey, it was a great mix of sweet, loving, hot and challenging. These two definitely have HOT chemistry together and a connection that runs deep. I loved the appearances of Zane and Paul, that was a fun addition to the story. I do have to admit that I struggled a bit with Helen and her role in their story, for some reason it was hard for me to fully get on board with it, but in the end I was okay. I did love the way it all came together and seeing Xavier and Trent get their happiness and love was satisfying!

Synopsis

Fall in love at Bayside, where sandy beaches, good friends, and true love come together in the sweet small towns of Cape Cod.

BAYSIDE SUMMERS is a series of standalone steamy romance novels featuring alpha male heroes and sexy, empowered women. They’re fun, flirty, flawed, deeply emotional, always passionate, and easy to relate to.

“With her wonderful characters and resonating emotions, Melissa Foster is a must-read author!” -NYT Bestseller Julie Kenner

“Melissa Foster is synonymous with sexy, swoony, heartfelt romance!” -NYT Bestseller Lauren Blakely

In Bayside Desires…
As the co-owner of Bayside Resorts, Rick Savage has a fabulous job working with his best friends and brother, and a thriving business in Washington, DC, which he’ll be returning to at the end of the summer. Spending time with his family is great, but being back on Cape Cod has unearthed painful memories. When sweet, smart, and overly cautious Desiree Cleary moves in next door, Rick is drawn to the sexy preschool teacher, and she just might prove to be the perfect distraction.

Running an art gallery was not in preschool teacher Desiree Cleary’s plans, but after being tricked into coming to her impetuous, unreliable mother’s aid, she’s stuck spending the summer with the badass half sister she barely knows and a misbehaving dog. If that’s not frustrating enough, she can’t escape the sparks igniting with her strikingly handsome and pushy neighbor, Rick, who makes all her warning bells go off.

Passion ignites as Desiree and Rick spend long summer nights sharing heartfelt confessions and steamy kisses. For the first time in years Rick is enjoying life again instead of hiding behind mounds of work miles away from his family. Desiree has touched him in a way that makes him want to slow down. Only slowing down means dealing with his demons, and he isn’t sure who he’ll be when he comes out the other side.

All Bayside books can be read as standalone novels or as part of the series:
Coming Soon…
Bayside Passions
Bayside Heat
Bayside Escape

Bayside Summers is part of the Love in Bloom romance collection by New York Times & USA Today bestselling and award-winning author Melissa Foster. 3.5 – 4 Stars

Bayside Desires is a sweet read, that prefect lazy day or beach read where you want something to make you smile and swoon – this is that book! Rick and Desiree are wonderful characters that you can relate to and fall in love with. I think this a fun start to a new series I’m definitely looking forward to.

Desiree and Rick have both ended up in The Cape for the summer, Desiree tricked and guilted into running her mom’s gallery with her half-sister and Rick is there working on a resort with his brothers. When the two meet there is an instant connection for both and it’s the start of a sweet summer (and hopefully longer) romance! Rick and Desiree both have things to work out this summer though and the question is can they do it together.

For me this was a fun and sweet read, heart-warming and full of characters you want to be your friends. I really adored Rick, his heart and his sense of humor just totally got me. Desiree is such a sweetheart, I loved seeing her grow in this story. Yes, we’ve got some insta-love here but there are things these two have to deal with, coming to terms with families, forgiveness and life choices. Overall, an enjoyable read and I’m really looking forward to more in this series!

There will be a battle, and you will need to protect your heart.

Kjell of Jeru had always known who he was. He’d never envied his brother or wanted to be king. He was the bastard son of the late King Zoltev and a servant girl, and the ignominy of his birth had never bothered him.

But there is more to a man than his parentage. More to a man than his blade, his size, or his skills, and all that Kjell once knew has shifted and changed. He is no longer simply Kjell of Jeru, a warrior defending the crown. Now he is a healer, one of the Gifted, and a man completely at odds with his power.

Called upon to rid the country of the last vestiges of the Volgar, Kjell stumbles upon a woman who has troubling glimpses of the future and no memory of the past. Armed with his unwanted gift and haunted by regret, Kjell becomes a reluctant savior, beset by old enemies and new expectations. With the woman by his side, Kjell embarks upon a journey where the greatest test may be finding the man she believes him to be.

I was so excited to see a second The Bird and The Sword Chronicles book and even more so when I saw it was going to be Kjell’s story and Amy Harmon did not disappoint! This book, just like the first one, is an experience, it will sweep off your feel and transport you to a different world. The characters are captivating and the story is all consuming!

I fell so freaking hard for Kjell – oh my goodness! He was definitely an intriguing character in The Bird and the Sword, but now as the main focus, I just loved him so much! He is just everything! His love and devotion, despite his rough exterior just made my heart melt. He’s easily one of my favorite characters from Amy Harmon. Sasha is also her own form of amazing, she’s pure and real even in a world she doesn’t remember, trying to sort out the future.

I loved this journey and don’t want to spoil it for any reader, but I can guarantee you will be transported into this world, living with these characters in every moment. I’m not one to typically read fantasy but I love this series. I didn’t know if Amy Harmon could do better than The Bird and The Sword but I’m going to say she did with Kjell and Sasha’s journey.  I loved the way their story started and I adored the way it all came together – a beautiful ending! I cannot wait to go back to Jeru!

Blog Tour & GIVEAWAY: A Worthy Man by Jaime Reese

Today I’m so thrilled to share my review of A Worthy Man by Jaime Reese! This is a wonderful, emotional, hope-filled story that I just completely adored! I hope you’ll check out my review as well as the excerpt and there’s a fantastic giveaway too!
Happy Reading!
~Jenn
Title: A Worthy Man
Series: The Men of Halfway House #5
Author: Jaime Reese
Genre: M/M Romance
Release: May 2, 2017
Photographer: Eric McKinney of 6:12 Photography

A story of two men and the boundless love that forever changed them.

Vannguard Shaw has spent the last ten years serving a life sentence and adjusting to the ache of solitude. He accepts his fate, a sacrifice for the only man he ever loved and the one person who saw beyond his rough edges.

Drayton grew up with a trust fund and pre-planned future, but an unexpected encounter one night forces him to abandon everything and start from scratch. He is now a self-made man and developer of one of the most sought after electric exotic automobiles in the world with a fortune greater than that of his birthright. Yet, he’d surrender it all—again—for the only man who’s still ever-present in his heart.

After a decade and entirely too much distance between them, Vann is suddenly released back into a world that has been nothing but cruel. Drayton never lost hope they would once again reunite and pick up where they left off, but Vann’s stubborn nature and repeated encounters with a heartbreaking world prove to be a challenge.

Vann needs to tap into his fighting spirit’s reservoir of strength and hope life doesn’t punish him for taking a chance. Only then will he realize his own value and feel worthy enough to finally have Drayton’s heart. And their chance at forever.

I have really enjoyed The Men of the Halfway House series and this book just blew me away. I love a second-chance story and these books have all definitely been about second chances, but for Dray and Vann their second chance is a bit different, and I loved it. This story is low on angst but big on emotion and love and hope!

Dray and Vann met when they were teens and had an immediate connection. Neither of them really fit in, but they fit together. Dray was the rich, smart kid but really couldn’t read people. Vann is the tough, poor kid with a rough upbringing. They shouldn’t be friends but they are best friends and it becomes more, both knowing they’ve found their true loves. But tragedy strikes and Vann ends up in prison, serving what is supposed to be a life sentence. He doesn’t want Dray to see him like that but each week Dray writes to Vann, telling him about himself and sharing their memories. Dray isn’t about to give up on Vann and eventually he works for his release and ten years later Vann is out of prison, and hopefully back in Dray’s life.

For me, this was a story about hope; hope for love, for rebuilding their lives together and hope for the future. Vann struggles with his worth in life and man was it a powerful journey with him as he discovers who he is and how valuable he is. He’s always loved Dray but hasn’t always felt worthy of that love. I loved that Dray never lets him doubt that for a minute. And on the other side, Dray has his own insecurities that Vann so easily and naturally helps him overcome. These two are just amazing together, bringing out the best in each other.

Even though this story is low on the angst it still carries so much emotion. Both Dray and Vann have been through so much, but these are two are so truly committed to each other it’s about working it out together. This is a book that will absolutely capture your heart and make you just fall in love! I think this story is a fantastic addition to this series and cannot wait for more! A definite must read!

“Emotionally, beautiful and inspiring” – Amanda L Amazon Reviewer

“A great addition to this series. One of the most romantic books I’ve read this year.” – Bayou Book Junkie

“Overall…Their story is beautiful, heartbreaking, inspiring, sexy, and moving.” – Two Book Pushers

“C’mon,” Drayton said, tugging Vann by the hand. After breakfast and a countertop quickie, they had immediately returned to the bedroom and had been hibernating there since. He had no objection to spending all day in bed, but he had a surprise for Vann and couldn’t stand waiting any longer. “I want to show you the rest of the house.”
“But I like the bedroom.”
Drayton chuckled, pulling him up with more force. “We can come back after.”

“Fine,” Vann grumbled, finally sitting up on the bed with a dramatic pout.

“You’re cute when you don’t get your way.”

“Cute enough to stay in bed?” He waggled his eyebrows and petted the bed. “It’s really soft.”
Drayton leaned in and gave Vann a chaste kiss, jerking back quickly to avoid his grasp.

Vann’s laughter filled the room. “Damn. You’re still super-fast.” He reluctantly stood and stretched his arms over his head.

Drayton’s lips parted, enjoying the flex of muscles.

“Like what you see?” Vann asked, delivering a cocky grin as he seductively licked his lower lip. “Let’s get back in bed—”
Drayton threw his head back and laughed. “You’re still persistent as hell. C’mon. I want to show you something.”

“I want to show you something too.”

“This is important.” Drayton crossed his arms. “We can skim the other rooms but there’s one that’s special. It’s…yours.”

Vann sobered. “You’ve given me enough to cover every event for the rest of my life and then some. I don’t want—”
“It’s also for me. I’ll watch you while you use the room.”

“Hmm.” Vann pursed his lips. “Okay, you’ve got my attention.”
After a little more bargaining, Drayton finally lured Vann out of the bedroom and down the hallway. He opened the door to his office and stepped inside. “This is the room I’m usually in when I’m here.”
“Not anymore.”
He chuckled as they exited the office. They walked down the hall to the room he’d had converted into a gym.
“Damn, this is nice.” Vann checked the different weight options and looked at each of the machines.
“You’ve got everything here for all types of routines. And if you don’t like the view, you’ve got a TV.”
“The view’s beautiful.”

“Whatever we need to change out or add, we’ve still got space. I do a lot of thinking while I’m on the treadmill, so we’re not getting rid of that.”

Vann chuckled. “Okay.” He walked over to Drayton and leaned in for a slow kiss.
“Mmm. What was that for?”
“Is this the room I’ll use while you watch me? I promise I’ll make you sweat too.”

Flag:
She literally broke me. Now she needs help. She won’t know it’s me before it’s too late.
Can I pass the opportunity up? No. I should do the decent thing, and let one of the others go, but the need to hurt her like she did me is too deep.
But first, I’ll make sure no one else dies because of her.
Truth comes out, but I’m not sure what to believe. Is revenge what I really want? Because right now, everything in me is reaching for HER.
All I can do is try to protect my heart while I search for a killer who suddenly has us both in his sights.
Azia:
The man they sent used to be someone I loved, and I nearly died when he left me. Can I trust him to stop whoever is killing people I care for? I don’t have a choice, because no one else can, or will, do it. I can’t let another of my friends die.
Anger and bitterness have changed him, but bits of the real Flag show through at unexpected times. I miss him more than ever, but I won’t survive losing him again.
Why do I wish things could be different, after all this time?

Wrapped Up In You is another great, action packed read from Aden Lowe! He definitely knows how to mix action and romance, and add in great characters that you can’t help but fall for. I loved Flag and Azia’s story – definitely a great addition to this series.
Flag and Azia were best friends throughout high school even though they were the outcasts. They had plans for their future together too, join the military and then get married. But that’s not what happened at all! Azia things Flag was killed and Flag believes Azia just left him behind. Both still carry that pain. One day Flag receives a call for a job from a woman whose friends are all dying in mysterious ways. This call brings Flag and Azia back together.
These two certainly don’t have a sweet reunion and it’s not easy for either of them. There is still so much pain but as they work through Azia’s situation with the possible serial killer they work through some of their own past hurts as well. It’s pretty easy to tell though that these two belong together, they still love each other and always have.
I definitely enjoyed their journey, a great mix of suspense and hot romance as well as some good laughs. Flag is tough and hard but definitely has a great heart. Azia is sweet and loveable, this is a couple you root for. I loved seeing these two come back together, softening to each other and remembering the connection they had. It was especially great to see Flag fall for her all over again and realize this was a life worth fighting for. Overall, another great read from Aden Lowe that had me falling in love and had me guessing about the killer until the very end! I’m already looking forward to whatever comes next from Aden!

Oh this story is just beautiful! Felice Stevens has a remarkable ability to write stories and characters that just go straight to the heart and she has most definitely done it again with One Call Away! Noah and Oren just *sigh* my heart!
Noah and Oren will take you on an emotional journey of self discovery and love! What starts out as a phone call becomes friendship and finally everything! There is so much emotion and feeling in this story that you can feel it right along with these two. Despite having professional success both of these men so lonely and fragile, but once they find each other it truly changes their lives.
I loved the journey with these two, the connection they shared and the chemistry too! Noah and Oren grow together and heal themselves along the way. This is definitely one of those stories where you know these characters were just meant to be, two halves coming together to finally be whole. I pretty much feel like picking up a book by Felice Stevens is going to give me all the feels and leave my heart ridiculously happy and One Call Away certainly did all of that! This was another don’t miss read!

An actor on possession charges, hell bent on destroying his own life meets a man who quietly works to make the world a better place.

Jacob Riley is a typical Hollywood former child star with issues. He has already done prison time and at the age of twenty-six has been arrested again.

Ethan Myers is the owner and manager of Macs, an education center providing teaching and learning to local low income families. Losing his partner to cancer leaves him lost and alone and he buries himself in his work to start to mend his broken heart.

Sparks fly when Jacob has to complete his community service at Macs. Their relationship grows against a background of disenfranchised street gang members, arson, the Oscars, and despite their prejudices.

Can Jacob Riley be saved?

Moments is one of those books that is an easy read, a fun story to fall into and fall in love with. Ethan is such a wonderful character and I absolutely loved him right from the start! Jacob on the other hand isn’t quite so easy to love in the beginning, but he definitely gets there!

Jacob starts off as a bit of a cliche – the entitled actor with substance abuse issues, blames everyone else for his problems. He’s not the most loveable guy when we meet him. He’s faced with additional prison time but his father steps in and works a deal where he does community service at an adult education center called Macs. For Jacob Macs is a way out of trouble but for Ethan it’s everything. It’s in memory of his partner who passed away, someone who Ethan still grieves for and misses terribly. Ethan works hard to provide a safe, helpful place and he won’t let Jacob distract from that work.

Jacob and Ethan definitely don’t get along right away, they seriously butt heads, but quickly the two men warm a bit to each other and there’s a respect and friendship. Jacob sees the work done at Macs and finds himself becoming a part of it, learning about himself and healing too. Ethan sees that as well and the two men find a connection together.

For me, this was a story about redemption and worth, for both men. Jacob finally growing beyond his entitled, spoiled mentality and Ethan embracing the future and letting someone in again. I loved seeing these two heal together and learn to love each other. Sure they hit some bumps, and RJ Scott throws in a little angst at the end, but it’s meaningful to this story and proves just how much Jacob and Ethan really do love each other. Another great read from RJ Scott!

Wow – this book surprised me, in the best possible way! I hadn’t read the first book, which for me didn’t take anything away from Trystan and Dakota’s story, although I will be going back to read it! I think I expected something different when this story started, something lighter, but this story was powerful, emotional and really all about the power of love.
Trystan is a confident, popular football player destined for greatness and he knows it. He’s used to getting what he wants and when the cute, shy swimmer he’s lusting after proves to be a challenge, Trystan accepts that challenge and ends up in way deeper than he ever planned. Dakota turns out to be everything he ever wanted and he falls hard and fast. But, it’s not that easy, Dakota is trying to escape a horribly brutal past and it’s all about survival, not love.
I absolutely adored these two! I mean, I fell as hard and fast and Trystan. I loved the way Trystan broke through Dakota’s protective layers and without knowing the details of his pain, slowly started to heal him. Trystan is just such a loveable guy, even when he puts his foot in his mouth. Dakota, oh my god, my heart broke for him. The pain and suffering he’s experienced and the after effects that follow him around, oh you can just feel it. But slowly he lets Trystan in and starts finding joy in life again.
I really felt like this story was about the power of love and healing, of hope and believing in your worth. Trystan is that steadfast love for Dakota, he too discovering how powerful that real love can be. This book certainly had its dark moments that just gut you, but it also has plenty of smiles, cuteness, off the charts chemistry and so much heart. Again, I absolutely adored these two and their journey together! This is a book I won’ t soon forget and am definitely looking forward to reading more from T.S. McKinney!
