Review

4 – 4.5 Stars

Another Andrew Grey book I absolutely fell in love with! I love his style and the way he delivers a story that just goes right to my heart, and Andrew and Clay definitely did just that!

Clay is a Sheriff’s Deputy who wants to protect, Andrew is a judge who doesn’t put up with any nonsense, what he says goes. But when a crazy and dangerous criminal escapes, he starts making threats towards Andrew and Clay is assigned to protect the prickly judge. But at these two start to spend time together, Clay quickly sees Andrew isn’t as prickly outside the courtroom. The two get close as Clay does everything he can to protect Andrew and make him feel safe but just as things start to feel okay, another bombshell is dropped in their laps and now Andrew is taking care of his niece and nephew while trying to hide from the crazed wanted man.

I thought this story was exciting and sweet and I couldn’t put it down. The chemistry between these two is great, but there is also genuine heart and caring between them. I loved seeing both guys with the kids, learning how to care for them. There was the perfect mix of action and romance and once again proved why I adore Andrew Grey’s books! I enjoyed the twists and turns, just enough to keep me guessing and finally a perfect ending! A definite must read!

Excerpt

“Thank you, Sheriff. I appreciate you providing some security,” Judge Andrew Phillips said into the phone, still sitting in his hotel room, getting ready to go to the courthouse just down the street.

“Deputy Brown will meet you in your courtroom in half an hour. He’ll provide protection while you’re at work, as well as at your home. You’ll need to have a room he can use while he’s there.”

“Brown.” Andrew thought a minute and pursed his lips. He remembered this particular deputy. An impatient control freak. Just great. “I know him.”

“Yes, I’m sure you do.”

“Isn’t there anyone else?” Andrew wasn’t sure he wanted that guy in his house.

“Clay is a superb deputy, and he’ll protect you to the best of his ability. With three deputies out because of the attack, and our regular duties, I’m short on personnel. He’s willing to do the job, which is 24-7. That’s a lot to ask of anyone. You could hire your own security.”

Damn him for the veiled threat. Andrew was smart enough to know he wasn’t going to get a different answer, and he needed some protection. He’d been up all night, jumping at every sound, hoping it wasn’t Harper Grange coming to get him.

“All right. Thank you.” He ended the call. There was no point in prolonging it, and he needed to get over to the courthouse.

Andrew got his things together, checked out of the hotel room, and took his bag along with him as he walked across the street with the others heading to the court. He kept looking over his shoulder the entire time until he was inside past security. He went right up the stairs to his courtroom and into his chambers, closing the door and breathing deeply, his heart racing.

“Judge Phillips. I’m here to provide security until Harper Grange is apprehended.”

He turned, recognizing Clay. God in heaven, the man got more stunning every single time he saw him. How in the hell was that possible?

Flight paramedic Rhys Foster is hooked on adrenaline. By day it’s blood and guts, by night it’s the thrill of the club. With a different face in his bed most nights, he doesn’t have time to be lonely…right?

Entertainer Jevon Campbell is a play therapist like no other—dancer, magician, acrobat, he brings it all to his global mission to help children in need laugh again. He’s on a rare home visit when he encounters enigmatic Rhys in a London bar.

Their connection is instant, but Rhys fast realises Jevon’s easy confidence doesn’t stretch as far as the bedroom. He has no idea how mesmerising he is—how beautiful—and Rhys resolves to show him.

They grow closer, but time isn’t on their side. Rhys seems unable to articulate how he feels, and with Jevon’s imminent departure from the UK hanging over them, their separate commitments could tear them apart forever.

As the days slip by, Rhys must learn to believe he’s worth the happiness Jevon is offering.

Jenn Review

4.5 Stars

Believe is a great addition to the Skins series, I totally fell for Rhys and Jevon! Oh Jevon, let me tell you how amazing this guy his – big beautiful heart and he’s determined to prove to Rhys he deserves to be happy! I loved seeing the characters from the other books as a part of this story too!

Rhys is tired of the hook up world, it used to be his release from the stress of being a paramedic, but now it’s just not doing it for him. Jevon works hard to make kids smile and give them a chance to be kids again, he’s ready to embrace who he really is and when these two just happen to meet in a bar, it was meant to be. But it seems that whatever is happening between them has a time limit. Jevon will be traveling again for work soon and can whatever this new thing is carry on beyond the short time they’ve known each other.

One of my favorite things about this book is the connection these two have right from the start. Both of these men see terrible things on a daily basis, Jevon working with refugee children in camps, displaced and afraid, Rhys trying to save lives, but they find a peace together. It’s something neither of them have experienced before. The physical side of their relationship is passionate and hot but also helps guide their story. Rhys has a history of hooking up, for the pleasure and that’s it. Jevon has limited experience, especially since coming out as gay and when they are together, it’s a journey for them both. There is a bit of insta-love, but for me it was done right. These two found each other at the just the right time and together they learn how to build a life around their love.

Geordie De La Rosa is a legend among wine lovers in Napa
Valley. His ultra-fabulous style paired with a penchant for leading impromptu sing-a-longs has
made him a star attraction at Conrad Winery. Co-owning a well-respected winery was never
Geordie’s aspiration but he likes the niche he’s made for himself. He won’t deny that his job and
his friends have helped ease his heartache and grief after the death of his longtime partner.

Levi Yeager excels at the art of reinventing himself. He’s been a
minor league baseball player, a college coach and now a restaurant owner. The problem is he
doesn’t know anything about the food business. And when his chef quits unexpectedly, he’s
afraid his new venture is doomed. But Levi isn’t a quitter. It may be the only thing he has in
common with the beautiful, sassy man from the neighboring winery who agrees to help get his
new business up and running. Neither man counts on their fast friendship or the wild attraction
they feel for each other. However, they know they won’t stand a chance until they let go of the
past and lean into forever.

Leaning Into Forever Teaser 1

Jenn Review

4 – 4.5 Stars

This Geordie’s story and I have really been looking forward to and it definitely did not disappoint! I’ve enjoyed Geordie in the previous books, his flamboyance and fabulousness but it was clear he needed someone in his life. And Levi is the perfect match for him, it certainly may not seem that way initially but there is something so very wonderful between these two, right from the start. This is the sort of read that is just good for my heart!

Geordie is still mourning the loss of his love Mike, not ready and unable to move on, but when Levi shows up he challenges Geordie and doesn’t hide from his feelings. He doesn’t let Geordie push him away. They start spending time together and Geordie feels happiness again, genuinely enjoying Levi and what he brings to his life. I adored these two together. Yes, they have some things to work through and Geordie has to come to terms with the fact that he will always love Mike, but there just might be room in heart for Levi too.

I really liked the way this story progressed, these two start out working together and their friendship develops. It takes time for these two, but it’s a great pace. Their relationship never felt forced or one-sided, even during their challenges. This is exactly the journey I had hoped for Geordie and it made my heart so very happy! It’s one of those books I wanted to start over as soon as I finished just to feel it again. Definitely a must read book and must read series!

EXCERPT

“I can’t decide what to sing. The Sound of Music is always a winner,
but perhaps I should try—”
Grease,” Levi suggested out of the fucking blue. He chuckled when I jumped, and
then he handed me a napkin to clean the burgundy liquid that sloshed over the rim of my
wineglass.

“Where the hell did you come from? And why are you always sneaking up on me?” I asked
irritably as I wrapped the napkin around the stem of my glass.
“I didn’t sneak up on you. You asked for a music suggestion, and I gave you one.”
“I wasn’t asking your opinion,” I huffed without heat. “I was talking to myself.”
“Again?”
“I’m always talking to myself.”
I lifted my glass to my lips to hide my involuntary hum of approval. Damn, he cleaned up nicely.
His slicked-back hair and close-shaven hint of a beard went well with his white oxford button-
down shirt, houndstooth blazer, and snug designer jeans. And holy hell…cowboy
boots.
“People are gonna think you’re weird if you keep that up,” he singsonged playfully.
“I hope so. Weird is the ultimate badge of honor.” I raised my glass in a mock toast then gave
him a lascivious once-over that was too flirty to be taken seriously. “You look very handsome. I
wouldn’t think to pair a sophisticated jacket with ranch chic and yet, somehow you’ve made it
work.”
Levi crossed his arms and leaned against the wall with a slow-growing grin. The latent sensuality
in the lazy upturn of his full lips fascinated me. Or maybe it was the cowboy boots.
“Thanks. I think.”
“Anytime. I should go.” I shoved my glass into his free hand then flung my yellow scarf over my
shoulder and pinched my cheeks to add a touch of natural color before bowing theatrically.
Adieu. My audience awaits.”
“Hang on.” He stepped in front of me before I could escape. “I want to talk to you for a second.”
The billowy sleeves of my black tunic fluttered as I motioned for him to hurry. “What is it?”
“I didn’t have a chance to thank you for helping me out today. The stuffed jalapeños were a hit.
And they went well with the wine.”
“You’re welcome. I know my peppers, and I know my Pinot. You were smart to print out a
sample menu for La Vid. The font was all wrong, but it was still a nice touch,” I enthused. “Now
excuse me while I—”
Levi grabbed my elbow to stop me. “La Vid?”

“It’s just a suggestion, of course, but I think a touch of Spanish flair would be well-received.
Every other business in this town has the word vine or wine in it. La Vid would stand out. Think
about it.”
“I will. What was wrong with the font?” he asked, furrowing his brow.
I grabbed my drink from his hand and took a small sip. “You used Helvetica, Levi. That’s almost
as boring as Times New Roman.”
It didn’t seem possible, but his forehead creased a little more as his frown deepened. “At no
point in my life did I ever think I’d ask this question at a party but…what font would you
suggest?”
“Andale or Century Gothic. Or better yet, Monaco,” I replied without hesitation. “Something
classy yet understated and sophisticated. That’s what you’re going for with your restaurant,
correct?”
“Yes. Exactly. Wes told me you’re responsible for the overall aesthetic at Conrad Winery. Are
you a budding designer on top of being a cabaret singer?”
I grinned at his teasing tone. “Yes and no. I have zero training in either endeavor, but I’m pretty
damn good at both if I do say so myself.”
“And modest too,” he quipped.
“Modesty will get you nowhere. If you want something, you’d better speak up before someone
else swoops in.”
“Agreed. I want something.” Levi inched closer, seeming suddenly larger than life. His shoulders
were broader, and his expression was more intense.
“What do you want?”
“You.”

Lando

My muse is gone, and I haven’t written a word of music in over a year. Every time I close my eyes, all I can see is Dawson. Nine years ago, just before Downward Spiral’s first major tour, I met my soulmate and then I walked away. Now that I’ve finally tracked him down again, things have changed. I’ll have to make him fall for me all over again. But is it possible I put our single weekend together on a pedestal or could Dawson really be The One?

Dawson

A traumatic brain injury nine years ago left me deaf and with spotty memory of the first twenty years of my life. When one of the biggest rock stars in the world shows up and seems to know me, I’m not sure what to believe. Is it possible he’s telling the truth when he says he’s been in love with me for nine years, even if I can’t remember ever meeting him?

***Play it by Ear is the second book in the Replay series. Each book in the series will focus on a different band member getting a second chance at love. Each book can be read as a stand-alone.

Jenn Review

I am really enjoying this series and I think Lando and Dawson just became my favorites! (So far) It was pull at the heart strings but not overly angsty or dramatic, it felt just right. Both men living a life they hadn’t planned on, without each other until fate brings them back together again!

Lando still remembers the guy he hooked up with years ago, the one he spent a weekend with, the one who never called. He can’t seem to get over that guy and he is struggling professionally and personally. Dawson can’t remember a lot of things, he lost his hearing and a lot of memories in his accident. He’s obsessed with a band he can’t ever remember hearing. Both men end up in the same Florida town where they met and they find each other again.

These two are just meant to be, you feel it from the start and that feeling just grows as these two find each other and get to know each other again! My heart hurt for them both, the different things they’ve been through and then to find each other, it made me so happy! I loved their relationship, sure it’s quick but I totally bought in! I loved their connection, despite everything that happened. And I LOVED Dawson, he totally owned my heart! I really enjoyed this book from start to finish and am looking forward to the next!

EXCERPT

The blank pages taunt me cruelly. No matter how many times I put the tip of my pencil to the paper, it remains blank. Have you ever felt like your entire life depended on your ability to do something that you suddenly couldn’t do? Not that I’m going to die if I can’t write. But if I can’t do this, the band will be dead, and I might as well die along with it.

“Just write,” I command myself, putting the tip of the pencil to the paper once more. “It can’t be that difficult. You’ve written three dozen songs, if not more. Just put one word in front of the other until you have enough words to fill three minutes or so.”

I drill the tip of the pencil into the paper, but still no words come.

“Goddammit,” I roar, snapping the pencil in my fist and throwing the pieces to the ground. “Dammit, dammit, dammit.”

A familiar resentment simmers in my chest. If Lincoln wasn’t such a mess, I wouldn’t be in this position. When we signed our first contract with Epic Records a decade ago, Lincoln and I agreed we’d share the responsibility of writing music. How many songs has Lincoln written? Two. Two fucking songs in ten years while I sit here with an ulcer over needing to get a whole album written in the next few weeks.

“Fuck you, Lincoln, and fuck me, too,” I mutter, heaving myself off the couch and heading to my kitchen to grab another beer.

How’s this for the wild Friday night in a rock star’s life? Drinking beer and berating myself in my deathly quiet penthouse.

I wander over to the window that takes up the entire east wall. City lights twinkle like stars all around, but when I tilt my head to see the actual stars, there’s nothing but hazy light polluting the sky.

I lift the bottle of beer to my lips and gulp down half of it in one go. None of this was how it was supposed to be. When we started this band, we were nothing more than best friends sharing a love of music. When we were signed by Epic, we were all so sure this was going to change our lives. We weren’t wrong. A decade later we have seven albums, three of which went platinum, we’re a household name, our songs—my songs—are on every radio station. We’re living the dream. So why does it feel so empty?

I rest my palm against the frigid glass of the window and wonder for the millionth time what the point of all this is.

The shrill sound of my phone ringing makes me jump. I reach into my pocket and see Archer’s name on the screen. There’s only one reason our band manager would be calling me after midnight on a random Friday.

“Is he okay?” I ask as soon as I answer. My voice sounds flat to my own ears, and I wonder if Archer notices it. I feel wrung out physically and emotionally. I’m a battery with only ten percent life left and no charger in sight.

“He’s in the hospital,” Archer replies, sounding just as exhausted as I am.

“How bad is it?”

“Not sure yet. They’re pumping his stomach. It looks like he drank a liter of whiskey. I found him asleep on his balcony, damn near frozen.”

“On his balcony?” I put my hand back on the freezing glass and shiver. “It’s like twelve degrees outside.”

“Yeah,” Archer agrees.

“What do you need me to do?”

“Nothing tonight. I just wanted to let you know, and I was hoping I could swing by to talk after he’s out of the hospital. Maybe tomorrow evening?”

“Yeah, any time,” I agree. “Do you want me to call Benji and Jude?”

“It’s okay; I need something to do to distract myself while I wait. Thanks though.”

“No problem. I’ll see you tomorrow.”

I hang up and gulp down the rest of my beer. Sometimes it feels like these aren’t the lives we were meant to live. We all got off track somewhere. I can pinpoint exactly where my life split into a before and after. I’ve written a dozen songs about him. I’ve stayed up nights thinking about him. I’ve gotten drunk and cried over him. I hardly know him, but in nine years, I haven’t been able to shake him. What I wouldn’t give to go back and do something differently. Maybe I’d never leave him. Maybe I’d beg him to come with me. I don’t know what I’d do, but it wouldn’t be this.

I toss the empty bottle in the recycling and amble to my bedroom, stripping out of my clothes as I go. Maybe I’ll dream some damn lyrics and save my own ass. More likely I’ll dream of him.

Double Full:

Up and coming football hero, Colt Michaels, makes a Hail Mary pass one night in the college locker room that results in the hottest, sexiest five days of his young life. However, interference after the play has him hiding his past and burying his future in the bottom of a bottle. While Colt seems to have it all, looks can be deceiving especially when you’re trapped so far in a closet that you can’t see your way out.

Jace Montgomery single-handily built the largest all-star cheerleading gym in the world, driven by a need to forget a life-altering encounter with a handsome quarterback a decade ago. When he learns some upsetting news about his ex-lover, his heart executes a barrel roll and his carefully placed resolve tumbles down without a mat to absorb the shock. Can his island escape help him to finally let go of the past and move his life forward?
Full Disclosure:
Deputy United States Marshal Mitch Knox apprehends fugitives for a living. His calm, cool, collected attitude and devastatingly handsome good looks earn him a well-deserved bad boy reputation, both in the field and out. While away on an assignment, he blows off some steam at a notorious Dallas nightclub. Solving the case that has plagued him for months takes a sudden backseat to finding out all there is to know about the gorgeous, shy blond sitting alone at the bar.
Texas State Trooper Cody Turner dreams of being a Texas Ranger, and he’s moving up the ranks, well on his way to making it happen. But for the next two-weeks, he’s on vacation, and his plans include relaxing and helping out on his family’s farm. The last distraction he needs is a tatted-up temptation who walks into the bar and steals his baseball cap.

As Mitch’s case gains nationwide attention, how will he convince the sexy state trooper that giving him a chance won’t jeopardize his life’s plan…especially when the evil he’s tracking brings the hate directly to his doorstep, threatening more than just their careers?

Full Domain:

Honor, integrity, and loyalty are how Deputy US Marshal Kreed Sinacola lives his life. A former SEAL now employed by the Special Operations Group of the US Marshal Service, Kreed spends most of his life working covert operations…and avoiding relationships. But his boundaries blur and his convictions are put to the test when he finally comes face-to-face with the hot computer geek he’s been partnered with.

Aaron Stuart strives for one thing: justice. Young and full of idealism, his highly sought after computer skills land him a position with the National Security Agency. Aaron’s biggest hazard at his job is cramped fingers, but all that changes when he’s drawn into the middle of a dangerous federal investigation. And his attraction to his new inked up, dark-haired partner provides another kind of threat altogether. While Aaron tries desperately to place a firewall around his heart and fight his developing feelings, one misstep on his part could ultimately destroy him.

The solution isn’t as easy as solving the case, which is treacherous enough as it is. But the growing sexual attraction between them threatens to derail more than just Kreed’s personal convictions as he quickly learns temptation and matters of the heart rarely fit easily into the rules he’s lived by. Will Kreed be able to convince Aaron to open his heart and face the fact that sometimes the answers aren’t always hidden in code?

5+ Stars
I love this bundle so hard! I read and absolutely loved each of these books as they came out individually and now having them all together as a bundle is great! If you’ve already read these books I still recommend getting this collection for the bonus content, it’s fantastic to be back in their world and if you haven’t read it, well I highly recommend it, these guys are favorites who are forever in my heart!
Best Selling Author Kindle Alexander is an innovative writer, and a genre-crosser who writes classic fantasy, romance, suspense, and erotica in both the male/male and male/female genres. It’s always a surprise to see what’s coming next!

I live in the suburbs of Dallas where it’s true, the only thing bigger than an over active imagination, may be women’s hair!
Usually, I try for funny. Humor is a major part of my life – I love to laugh, and it seems to be the thing I do in most situations – regardless of the situation, but jokes are a tricky deal… I don’t want to offend anyone and jokes tend to offend. So instead I’m going to tell you about Kindle.

I tragically lost my sixteen year old daughter to a drunk driver. She had just been at home, it was early in the night and I heard the accident happen. I’ll never forget that moment. The sirens were immediate and something inside me just knew. I left my house, drove straight to the accident on nothing more than instinct. I got to be there when my little girl died – weirdly, I consider that a true gift from above. She didn’t have to be alone.

That time in my life was terrible. It’s everything you think it would be times about a billion. I love that kid. I loved being her mother and I loved watching her grow into this incredibly beautiful person, both inside and out. She was such a gift to me. To have it all ripped away so suddenly broke me.

Her name was Kindle. Honest to goodness – it was her name and she died a few weeks before Amazon released their brand new Kindle ereader. She had no idea it was coming out and she would have finally gotten her name on something! Try finding a ruler with the name Kindle on it.. It never happened.

Through the course of that crippling event I was lucky enough to begin to write with a dear friend in the fan fiction world of Facebook. She got me through those dark days with her unwavering support and friendship. There wasn’t a time she wasn’t there for me. Sometimes together and sometimes by myself, we built a world where Kindle lives and stands for peace, love and harmony. It’s its own kind of support group. I know without question I wouldn’t be here today without her.

4.5 Stars

This was such a fun and sweet read and I absolutely fell head over heels for these characters! Tommy and Grayson and Petey just won my heart! This is the perfect read when you’re looking for something without too much drama and a just wonderful, meant to be love!

Tommy is all set to get married, he thinks he’s found the one, until the one decides he just can’t go through with it and leaves him the day of the wedding. Tommy is ready to crumble but his best friend Grayson is there by his side, ready to help him. Grayson even convinces Tommy he should go on his honeymoon and enjoy the vacation and in turn Tommy convinces Grayson to come too, and to bring his adorable son Petey. The three of them head off together and it’s a trip that changes everything.

I just loved this group together, not just the romance between Tommy and Grayson but the family unit they are with Petey. Tommy and Grayson have been friends for years, both men harboring secret crushes on each other but the timing has never been right for either man. But there, on that beautiful island together Tommy and Grayson sort through their feelings, about past relationships and for each other. These two just felt right together, even as Tommy works through what his craptastic ex did him, the love between him and Grayson is evident.

I really enjoyed this story from start to finish! Grayson’s constant strength is the perfect match for Tommy and his self doubt and workaholic tendencies. These two grow together and become a beautiful family. There’s just enough drama to keep it exciting, a wonderful read all around!

4 Stars

Oh the emotional journey with this Legacy Ranch group and wow does Daniel round it out! This story made me feel so much! Daniel and Corey both have so much to deal with – it’s powerful, emotional and filled with hope so have some tissues ready!

Daniel is trying to live a normal life, trying to escape the pain and horror of his past. He knows people think he’s weird but he’s still trying. Corey’s life changed dramatically when his parents and uncle unexpectedly died, now he’s in charge of the business and his three younger sisters. Going through his father’s old journals opens a crack, exposes something so painful Corey knows he needs to hide it from his sisters but he also feels he needs to try to right some of the wrongs. And that is how Daniel comes into his life.

For me, a lot of this story was more about the healing journey than the romance and it worked for me. The lives of both of these men have spiraled a bit, and it takes time to recover from that. Aside from their individual issues, there are issues between Daniel and Corey, the connection they share and the questions of being able to separate it all and RJ Scott does a great job of bringing these two together. They find friendship together and it leads to more and it just made my heart so happy! This book and this series, while not always easy on the heart, are so full of love and hope. I love how this group becomes a family, the stories going beyond just finding romantic love, but also the love of a family.

Chapter 1

Eight years ago

I want to go home.

Daniel Chandler trudged miserably down the long black ribbon of road, tears burning his eyes, and hopelessness tightening his chest. The heat of an August Texas day had subsided to a slightly cooler evening, and the sky was a brilliant mass of stars, but he couldn’t bring himself to look up at them anymore.

How had everything gone this badly wrong? Brett had promised that he would take Daniel somewhere far away from his foster family, but one weird question from an inquisitive cashier at a gas station and Brett had panicked. He’d refused to go any further, and said he was going home.

Daniel didn’t want to go back to San Antonio. He wanted freedom, and the ability to decide for himself where his life was going. He’d overheard his foster parents talking about how he was a liability; that he costed them more than they made, and he knew it was only a matter of time before they got rid of him anyway.

So he refused to leave with Brett and got out of the car.

Brett didn’t care, and he drove away, leaving Daniel stranded.

Daniel kicked a stone, stumbling a little when he misjudged the curve of the road. He’d eaten the cereal bars that Brett had tossed him and used up all the water. Which left him in the heat, without food or drink, and carrying a backpack with limited clothes. He also had books—his favorites, and a wallet which contained nothing more than a couple of hundred dollars he’d saved from his gardening job. The only official thing he had in the bag was his ID.

He’d left his most recent home at six-thirty a.m., with no real idea of where he was going or what he was doing, only knowing he wasn’t going to spend another minute in a house where he wasn’t wanted.

Hunching his shoulders against the weight of his backpack, he carried on. Sometimes he hummed to a song in his head. Other times he counted the steps he took, but most of the time he stared ahead, not counting or humming at all.

A car pulled up alongside him. No, a truck, and at first his heart leaped. Brett was back. He’d changed his mind and returned to help Daniel.

A female voice called out. “Can we give you a lift somewhere?” she asked through the open window.

Daniel saw she wasn’t much older than he was, long blonde hair swept up into a ponytail, her smile wide, her expression kind. A man sat in the driver’s seat, but he was in the shadows, and at first, Daniel couldn’t make out his face until he leaned forward. The first thing Daniel noticed was the dog collar, then the same kindly smile as the girl. They were clearly related, both fair, with light eyes and an angular balance to their features.

“Hello, young man. My daughter and I are heading to Laredo. Would you like us to take you?”

He smiled at Daniel, this man in black with the white collar. This was an average family. They probably thought he was a hitchhiker and were offering genuine help. If Daniel couldn’t trust a man of the cloth traveling with his daughter, then who could he trust? He scanned the road behind him, waiting for Brett to suddenly appear and pick him up, but he was tired, hungry, and verging on desperate.

“Thank you.” Daniel opened the back door. He’d never hitchhiked before, didn’t know what the etiquette was, but he felt like he should offer to pay. “I can cover gas,” he said.

“No need for that,” the dad said and extended a hand awkwardly over the seat, which Daniel shook. “Father Frank Martins and this is my daughter Andrea.”

Andrea glanced back at him and grinned again. “Hey.”

“Daniel,” Daniel replied, as mute as usual around a girl as he was with boys. She turned back to the front, and Frank put the truck in drive.

“Buckle up,” he said.

Daniel did as he was told. Then settled back for the ride.

“Where are you from?” Frank asked after a few moments of silence, filled only with the soft sound of tires on blacktop.

“San Antonio,” Daniel answered.

“Really? What brings you this far south?”

Andrea shushed her dad, “Stop asking him questions, Daddy.”

Her dad huffed a gentle laugh. “Sorry.” He used the mirror to see Daniel. “You like music?”

Daniel nodded, thankful to Andrea for running interference.

Frank fiddled with the stereo. Country music filled the cab, and Frank hummed along. Andrea was on her phone, as evidenced by the glow of light as screens changed, and Daniel regretted leaving his phone at home. In his mad, stupid, anger, he’d wanted no way for his foster parents to keep tabs on him, but right now, he kind of wished he could phone them. He should pluck up the courage and ask Andrea to borrow hers. Maybe give his foster-parents a quick call, apologize, get them to pick him up, or at least arrange a bus.

They would help him. He didn’t doubt that. Even if he’d been an idiot and they wanted to hand him off to the next family, they would never leave a fourteen year old kid stranded miles from home.

“You thirsty?” Frank asked, and before Daniel could answer, Frank had unlocked the glove box and pulled out a bottle of water, passing it back to Daniel.

He took it with grateful thanks and downed a third of it in thirsty gulps. They reached the outskirts of a small town, and the car slowed to a stop outside a cookie-cutter house, a pretty place with manicured lawns.

Andrea turned around to look at Daniel.

“This is where I get out,” she announced. “Nice to meet you, Daniel.”

I thought they were both going on to Laredo?

Frank turned around as well. “I can take you all the way into the city. It’s only another ten minutes or so to the bus station or somewhere like that? A hostel?”

“I’m not sure—”

Frank interrupted, “Or you could stay the night here or a motel. We have one a few blocks down from here.”

Andrea shut the door and jogged up to the house, vanishing inside.

“Could I just borrow your phone?” Daniel asked.

Frank smiled, nodded, and pulled out his phone, tutting as he did so. “Oh my, the phone’s dead. You want to use my house phone? Or shall I just get you to the city? The bus station, right? They have public phones there.”

So many decisions. So many difficult choices, he thought and yawned.

“Yeah.” Daniel just wanted to get home.

“Yeah, what?” Frank prompted.

Daniel blinked at him. He was tired, and everything felt kind of hazy. “Yeah, home.” Back to his pretend parents and his pretend family, but back to a warm bed.

“Come on. Get in the front here.”

Daniel did as he was told, his limbs feeling heavy, and his coordination shit. Finally, he was belted in the front, and he closed his eyes briefly, exhaustion washing over him.

“That’s a good boy,” Frank murmured. “You sleep now.”

The country music got quieter, Frank’s humming was louder, and the journey to the city took a long time, the car swaying, and Daniel’s head thicker, full of softness and a weird kind of peace. He saw fields and signs, but none of them made any sense. Finally, he couldn’t fight the overwhelming lethargy, so he slept.

And woke up in hell.

New Release Review: The Way We Burn by M. Leighton

Holy moly friends – today we are excited to share this absolute must read by M. Leighton – The Way We Burn! This book was something else, it absolutely blew my mind and rocked my world! Definitely a book you don’t want to miss!

Happy Reading!

The Way We Burn EBook Cover

THE WAY WE BURN

M. Leighton

Irresistible attraction.  Unimaginable danger.

I knew from the moment Noah Williamson walked into the diner that he was haunted—deeply haunted—but I couldn’t resist the lure of him.  He was gorgeous and fascinating and mysterious, and like a delicate moth to a brilliant blue flame, I was drawn to him.  Drawn to his fire.

But if I’d known about his job, about what happened to his wife, I’d have run the other way.  Before I got caught up in the red-hot blaze of his life.  Before everything in my world got burned to the ground.

It’s too late to run now.  I hesitated and that was it. I fell. I fell for him before I knew there was danger in loving him.

Noah once told me that this is the way we burn—together or not at all.  At the time, I didn’t know what that meant.

Now I do.

The Way We Burn is a love story…with a kicker!  Suspense, chemistry, and twists galore, I can’t wait for you to jump in!  But don’t be afraid.  This is a stand alone VERY romantic story with a VERY satisfying ending.  I promise:)  xoxo  M

HOLY WOW – this book blew me away! I think I spent the second half of the book going ‘Wait, what…wait…OH MY GOD…this is happening!’ Michelle Leighton just rocked my world, I thought I was hooked from the start but then pieces start coming together and HOLY CRAP I could not put it down. Absolutely brilliant and thrilling and I am still thinking about this book. This is an absolute MUST READ!

Noah, Noah, Noah! I don’t even know where to start! I have to make this spoiler free because this book just has to be experienced, but oh Noah! He’s living a shell of a life after his daughter is murdered and his wife is missing. The husband is always the first suspect right, well not Noah. He’s determined to find out what happened to his family. Then there’s Poppy, the waitress in the little diner Noah frequents. He sits in the same spot and orders the same thing just hoping to hear her voice. But then he lets her in, just a little bit at first and then more and more and Poppy becomes something special. But the past comes back in a very real way and Noah and Poppy have to face that, can they do it together?

I have to say that I have been a Michelle Leighton fan for pretty much ever, I love her words and her characters and her ability to bring the feels and this book owned it all! I fell for these characters, especially Noah and his pain and darkness and I just didn’t see it coming! It’s a brilliant journey, a story of true love and the fight that comes with that love. I want to read this book again and again just to feel it some more. A must read, a heart stopper, a book that will stay with me! Thank you for this journey Michelle!

Tortured Noah (1)

Something in me snaps.
He’s halfway down the first set of steps when I stop him again.
“Noah?”
His head jerks back and he pins me with those glorious eyes. I start toward him before I can change
my mind, walking quickly down to meet him on the stairs.
I stop on the step above his and stare down at him. The blue of his irises has been overtaken by
swollen pupils and his eyes are the black, black, black of the night outside.
I’m on his level now, nose to nose, and my heart is racing like I’m standing on the edge of a cliff, the
wind howling at my back, uncertainty swirling all around me. Chills break out down my arms, but I
wrap them around his neck anyway, pressing my chest to his.
“Last week you said you wanted to know what’s going through my head,” I remind him. “This. This
has been going through my head since the day you walked into the diner.”
I mash my mouth to his. Hard. We both just sort of stand there, smooshed together, taken by surprise.
I wait for several seconds, hoping he’ll take it from there before I wither up and die. When he doesn’t,
I start to lean away, humiliation ready to burst forth and drown me. But before I can turn and run
back to my apartment with my tail between my legs, Noah brings one big hand to the back of my head,
stilling me.

Wordlessly, he watches me. Seconds pass. Or days. I can’t be sure which. Time ceases to exist, to even
matter when he looks at me.
A few achingly slow heartbeats thump by before he tilts his head and leans in, softly brushing his lips
over mine.
Finally.
I exhale the breath I’d been holding. I was so nervous, I don’t think I’ve breathed since I opened my
door.
But I’m breathing now. Breathing him in, gulping in this moment, tucking it into some treasured
corner of my soul.
I close my eyes, inhaling deeply, memorizing the scent of his soap, the smell of his skin. Reveling in
the hint of peppermint and nighttime leeching from his lips onto mine.
Back and forth, he rubs his mouth over mine, coaxing it open with a sexy artfulness I didn’t think men
really possessed. At least not in real life.
But Noah does.
He works my needy flesh like he knows it better than I do. His tongue whispers over the edge of my
bottom lip, breezes past the inside of my top one, and teases along the side of my own until a groan
bubbles up and out of my throat, unbidden.
I melt against him, my torso conforming to his as he supports me with his strong arms. I’m not
thinking. I’m not worrying. I’m not planning. I’m simply lost, lost to the storm of sensation he’s stirring
up within me. It’s building, the energy, and I know I’m just getting a taste of the tropical storm I knew
this man would be. Beautiful chaos lies at his center. I’m absolutely certain of it.
And absolutely drawn to it already.

Review Blitz: THE UPSIDE OF FALLING by Meghan Quinn

So thrilled to share The Upside of Falling by Meghan Quinn today – this book is an absolute MUST READ! I loved this book and Colby stole my heart, be prepared for one hell of a cliffy but it’s worth it!

Happy Reading!

~Jenn

Tucked away at the base of the Rocky Mountains lived a little boy with one singular dream: leave this broken and battered home and become someone.

Be somebody’s hero.

That boy was me—Colby Brooks. Except I’m not that same little boy anymore.

My dreams might still be the same, but my reality isn’t.

I’m smarter. Stronger. A man.

And I learned a long damn time ago, the only way to achieve my dreams was to avoid distractions—at any cost.

Focus. Resolve. Determination.

But all it took was one single night. One night and my entire life…changed.

One night had me colliding head first with the biggest distraction of my life; Rory Oaks.

Smart. Charming. Beautiful.

Rory changed everything.

Quickly, my one-track mind started to bend.

Each kiss faded decade-long dreams.

And with one single incident, I fly off course.

4.5 Stars

Well, Meghan Quinn just completely wrecked my heart, oh my Colby!! I adored him, totally fell in love with him and now I need MORE! I need to know what happens! I have been a huge Meghan Quinn fan for a while now, I love her ability to make me laugh and swoon, but this book brought it to a whole new level of feeling! This is an absolute must read but prepare yourself for the cliffy, it’s intense!

Colby has always had one goal and he’s determined that nothing will distract him from reaching that goal, that is until Rory walks into his life and something changes, right then. He knows she dangerous to his plan but he cannot stay away from her and just maybe they can make it work together.

Colby owned my heart in this book, he has such a wonderful heart despite what he’s been through. He had a rough childhood but has used that pain and hurt to become the strong, determined man he is now. He opens his heart to Rory, she finds a way in despite his initial attempts to keep her away. These two fall hard and it’s amazing and beautiful and happy until reality hits. HARD. Colby is graduating, achieving his dreams of becoming a pilot, but that means being transferred. Rory has ties that keep her home, leaving isn’t really an option for her. Choices have to be made.

Yes, there is a cliffhanger, yes it will break you but it is completely worth it! I fell in love, I laughed, I cried and I am so ready to see what happens in the second book. I currently have certain opinions and am wondering how much they will change and what direction things will go. I have no idea what to expect but I NEED it! A definite must read!

Head turned down, pushing the sleeves of his white Henley up his arms, he swaggers toward me. His jeans hang low on his hips, held up by the same brown belt he wore the other night. His narrow waist directs my eyes to the center of his jeans, and I can’t help wonder what might be behind the crotch of his pants.

And then there is his chest. Barrel like, broad and prominent. His thick biceps showcase his strength, and the fabric of his shirt stretches over his shoulders and forearms. Having spent a lot of time at the gym, I’ve seen every body type, but Colby’s is different. He’s strong, built, but not like a body builder. His body seems to suggest the only kind of weight he’s been lifting is his own body, pushup after pushup. I can’t imagine there being barbells in his workouts, but I can imagine logs, cadets, and heavy machinery. He has working muscles, the kind you earn from hard, dedicated work on the field. In a word? Impressive.

Walking up to Stryder, he grips his friend’s shoulder and says something into his ear. A smirk crosses Stryder’s face before he moves over to our side of the bowling alley and takes Colby’s place.

Is he leaving? Already?

Might as well at this point. It’s not like he’s going to talk to me, not after my pathetic attempt at a bet. I should have known I was going to hang out in the gutter all night. It’s where I usually am when I’m bowling. I blame the ball. The thing has a vendetta against me.

Sighing, I prop my chin in my hand and watch Stryder expertly toss his ball down the lane, getting a strike . . . once again. And just like every other strike, he pumps his arm up in the air and celebrates. We get it, you’re good, no need to—

“Hey.”

That voice . . .

Stunned, eyes wide, not able to move, not wanting to scare him away, I keep my eyes trained forward, soaking in that beautifully deep voice of his for a brief moment before saying, “Hey.”

“Can I sit here?”

Still keeping my eyes trained forward, I say, “Sure.”

My body tingles with awareness of how close he is to me, that fresh laundry scent invading my senses, prickling the little hairs on my arm. My body leans toward his, wanting a little more, searching for anything else he might give me. I don’t know why he’s choosing to engage me in conversation, but I’m sure as hell not moving while he does.

“Sorry about tonight,” he says and he actually sounds sincere.

“Why are you sorry?” I mumble.

Reaching around, he takes my cheek in his hand. The callouses on his palm rubbing against my skin is a welcome sensation. As I’m turned toward him, I steady my breathing. I’m having a hard time slowing my heart rate because of his close proximity, and the unexpected touch shooting a wave of heat through my veins.

“I’m sorry you didn’t get to ask me any questions. I didn’t think you were going to suck that bad.” A playful smile tugs at his lips, and my heart sinks to the floor. Oh God, he’s so gorgeous, especially when he smiles.

Matching his smirk, I say, “I didn’t think I was going to suck that bad either.”

“I feel bad.”

“You should.” That garners a laugh, deep and throaty, the sound cloaking me like a shield, protecting me from the outside world, bringing me into a little bubble where we are the only two that exist.

“Ask me a question.”

Shocked, I swallow hard and say, “Really?”

He nods and holds up his fingers. “You get three.”

“Oh, three? Wow, I feel like you just gave me the key to your soul.”

Rolling his eyes, he adjusts his stance on the barstool and leans back, giving us some space, our knees still knocking into each other. “Easy killer; it’s just three questions.”

“Yeah, three questions I didn’t have before.” Tapping my chin, I try to think of good questions, but now that I have him willing and waiting, nothing comes to mind. I wasn’t prepared for this, he caught me off-guard, and now I feel I can’t be strategic about my probing. “Hmm . . . what do you like to do on the weekends?”

“Jump,” he answers.

Searching his eyes, lips quirked, I say, “Uh, you’re going to have to be more specific than that. What kind of jumping are we talking here? Like jump roping? Because that seems kind of weird to do on the weekends, and if you tell me you’re in some kind of jump-roping club at the academy, I’m not going to believe you.”

His lips curve up as he scratches the side of his jaw. “Jump out of airplanes.”

Oh.

Oh.

That’s . . .

Uh, that’s really hot.

“So you just casually jump out of airplanes?”

“I’m part of the Wings of Blue, the academy’s parachute team. We jump every day, at least two to three times a day after class and before dinner, depending on wind and ceiling limits. On the weekends, some of the guys, including Stryder and me, go to Springs East Airport and do civilian jumps. The more jumps we get in, the higher the chance we’ll be considered for big demonstrations, like parachuting into football games and major sporting events for the Rockies and Broncos.” Ummmm. Did anyone else just hear how many words he gifted me? And seriously? Does the man have no clue how incredibly sexy he is when he talks about something he loves? The expression on his face . . .

“Wow, that’s . . . that’s really hot.” I chuckle. “Sorry, I don’t mean to fangirl over your parachuting, but I guess I wasn’t expecting that answer. You just jump out of planes?”

He slowly nods. “Every day.”

“Anything to get you up in the clouds, huh?”

“Yeah,” he answers shyly, rubbing his jaw. “Okay, next question.”

Can Jason find the courage he needs to be the man Seb deserves?

When Seb Radcliffe relocates to a seaside town in Cornwall, he feels like a fish out of water. He misses queer spaces and the sense of community he enjoyed when he was living in the city, and decides to open an LGBT-friendly cafe–bar.

Jason Dunn is the builder Seb hires to help renovate the rundown space where the cafe will be housed. Jason is also gay, but unlike Seb, he’s deep in the closet. He’s never had a relationship with another man—only allowing himself the occasional hook up with guys who are prepared to be discreet.

The attraction between the two men is instant and impossible to ignore. But while Seb is out and proud, Jason is terrified of being exposed. With the grand opening of Rainbow Place approaching, tension is growing among some locals who object to Seb’s plans. When things escalate, Jason is forced to choose whether to hide in the shadows and let Seb down, or to openly support the man he’s fallen so hard for.

Although this book is part of a series, it has a satisfying happy ending and can be read as a standalone.

3.5 – 4 Stars

Rainbow Place is a great start to a new series! It’s not an overly angsty read but it’s got a lot of feels! Seb is new to town, he’s out and proud and thanks to his new friends he’s planning to open a LGBT friendly cafe. Jason has lived in that town his whole life and has worked hard for his career as a builder even if it means hiding who he really is. When these two meet there is definitely chemistry but can they turn it into more?

I think Jay does a good job brining reality into this book! I didn’t always like Jason’s decisions but felt like I understood them. He was struggling and not intentionally out to hurt anyone. I also understood Seb’s feelings about the situation. Their journey felt true and sometims that hurts a bit! I loved the way it all comes together, how they work it out and yes Jason totally stole my heart! I really liked these guys and their friends and I’m excited to see where this series goes!

Author Bio

Jay lives just outside Bristol in the West of England. He comes from a family of writers, but always used to believe that the gene for fiction writing had passed him by. He spent years only ever writing emails, articles, or website content.

One day, Jay decided to try and write a short story—just to see if he could—and found it rather addictive. He hasn’t stopped writing since.

Jay writes contemporary romance about men who fall in love with other men. He has five books published by Dreamspinner Press, and also self-publishes under the imprint Jaybird Press. Many of his books are now available as audiobooks.
