Blurb/Synopsis:

Can a couple be more opposite than a thief and a cop? Or do they have more in common than they think?

Mattias stole to survive. He was damn good at it. But there’s no such thing as a victimless crime, and when he saw how his theft hurt people, he resolved to change. Now he works as a consultant, and while helping to investigate a rash of burglaries, he crosses paths with James.

Police Officer James Levinson doesn’t trust thieves, and that includes Mattias. James’s father stole to support himself, and James knows firsthand how that can destroy lives—it inspired him to go into law enforcement. Mattias is no different, from what he can tell… at first.

As they work together, Mattias and James realize there’s something deeper between them than just the physical attraction neither can deny. Given time, they might even grow to trust each other—unless the case they’re working on dredges up pasts both would rather forget.

4 Stars

This is another great addition to the Carlisle Deputy series, a fun opposites attract, unlikely couple book where I just fell in love with these guys! James and Mattias are the very definition of opposites on paper, that is until they start to get to know each other and discover that they have more in common that they ever thought possible. Andrew Grey delivers another story that had me constantly curious about these two and how their story was going to play out.

I really did enjoy the struggle between these two, although there were times when it broke my heart. Despite their attraction, there are some immediate trust issues between these two, given their pasts. They try to ignore those issues and embrace that is really between them, until it is something that is right in their face. I loved the chemistry and banter between James and Mattias, they really know how to push the right buttons! They also seem to really understand each other on a level that neither man has experienced before. The real question for them though, is whether they can handle reality when their pasts collide.

As always, I think that Andrew Grey delivers an entertaining and swoon-worthy read that kept my attention from start to finish. There are two characters who have had a tough life, but may just find a chance at happiness they deserve, that is if they can learn to trust and believe in each other. Andrew Grey is a go-to for me and this is a perfect example of why I just love his books!

Excerpt

“All right. Everyone stand up, please,” Mattias said calmly. “Someone identify an object that you want me to take.”

One of the officers held up a watch. It was plain and nothing that would ever have interested him during his career, but for demonstration purposes, it would do.

“Perfect. Put that back on, and I’ll demonstrate. I’d like you all to stay standing as I attempt to take the watch.” Mattias cleared his throat and pretended to think about how he was going to proceed. He wandered up and down each aisle, working his way over to the officer in question, who stood near the back, in the far aisle, with another officer in front and in back of him.

Mattias kept his expression neutral, as though he were concentrating, his gaze rarely wavering from his quarry. As he got closer, he nodded to the officer, whose gaze locked on to him. Mattias could almost feel his quarry’s heart rate increase the closer he got. This man knew something was going to happen, and he was prepared for it. Mattias turned the corner, anticipation building in the room, so thick that he could taste it. Every eye was on either him or his quarry, which was fine. Mattias was calm and cool, no worries. As he got closer, his quarry’s arm jittered slightly. Mattias watched it for a second and then lifted his head, meeting the gaze of the men and women around him. Passing by his quarry, Mattias smiled and continued back up to the front of the room.

“I still have the watch,” the officer said, holding up his wrist, and the others in the room clapped.

“I guess you aren’t as good as you thought.”

Mattias waited until the ruckus and self-congratulations died down and they all turned back to him. He cleared his throat. “And you are?” It was best to confront this type of adversary head-on.

“Detective James Levinson. I’m working with the sheriff’s department as a consultant on the robberies in the area.” His steely gaze held Mattias’s, and he didn’t look away. It was a test of wills, and Mattias enjoyed it, especially from the stunning man who made his body temperature rise and his heart beat a little faster just from the intensity in his eyes. This was a man who didn’t back down from a fight and who held tightly to his convictions. Mattias’s lips curled upward. He got the feeling that this was also a man who never admitted he was wrong. Good. Mattias liked that.

Mattias was going to love making him eat his words.

“Let’s see. Being a good thief is about doing what isn’t expected.” He reached into his pocket, pulled out a wallet, and opened it. “Pierre Ravelle.” He smiled and held up the wallet. “I believe this is yours.” The others in the room snickered as Pierre approached and accepted his wallet back. “No hard feelings,” Mattias said as he handed it over.

Pierre blushed slightly and returned to his seat. “Come on, guys,” Pierre said, to try to stop their razzing.

“Pierre isn’t alone.” Mattias began emptying the inner pockets of his jacket of their contents, including one more wallet, a pair of handcuffs, and a flashlight, as well as half a dozen other things. “Check to see what you’re missing and come up to retrieve it in a moment,” Mattias said, then slowly reached into an inner pocket, close to his body. He used his fingertips to pull out the service revolver and gently lay it on the table.

The room went silent, with each officer checking his belt.

“Detective Levinson, I believe this belongs to you.”

A Standalone Contemporary Romance

#1 New York Times Bestselling Author Vi Keeland

All Grown Up Instagram Square 2

SYNOPSIS:

When I first encountered Ford Donovan, I had no idea who he was…well, other than the obvious. Young, gorgeous, successful, smart. Did I mention young? If I did, it bears repeating. Ford Donovan was too young for me.

Let’s back up to how it all started. My best friend decided I needed to start dating again. So, without my knowledge, she set up a profile for me on a popular dating site—one that invited men ages twenty-one to twenty-seven to apply for a date. Those nicknamed Cunnilingus King were told they’d go straight to the top for consideration. The profile wasn’t supposed to go live. Another point that bears repeating—it wasn’t supposed to.

Nevertheless, that’s how I met Ford, and we started messaging. He made me laugh; yet I was adamant that because of his age, we could only be friends. But after weeks of wearing me down, I finally agreed to one date only—my first after twenty years of being with my high school sweetheart. I knew it couldn’t last, but I was curious about him.

Though, you know what they say…curiosity kills the cat.

My legs wobbled walking into the restaurant.

Ford was seated at the bar. When he turned around, he took my breath away.

His sexy smile nearly melted my panties.

But…he looked so familiar.

As I got closer I realized why.

He was the son of the neighbor at our family’s summer home.

The boy next door.

Only now…he was all man.

I hadn’t seen him in years.

I left the restaurant and planned to put the entire crazy thing behind me.

Which I did. Until summer came.

And guess who decided to use his family’s summer home this year?

Blurb

When Wicksy falls for drag queen Charlie, they discover that both sexuality and gender can be fluid.

Simon Wicks—Wicksy to his rugby teammates—has only ever been interested in women. But when he sets eyes on Lady Gogo, a drag queen who performs at Rainbow Place, he can’t stop thinking about her. He knows there’s a guy behind the fishnets and make-up, but he’s ready to explore his fantasies, and Lady Gogo is game for making them come true.

Charlie adores performing in drag. It allows him to indulge in his love of cross-dressing while earning some extra cash. Fooling around with a mostly straight guy in secret seems like a fun diversion, and gives him the chance to explore his feminine side. He feels safe wearing the mask of his confident alter ego, because the real Charlie is hidden from view.

When Wicksy sees more of the guy behind the make-up and glitter, his attraction to Charlie persists, and he realises he’s bisexual. In turn, Charlie begins to understand and accept his gender fluidity. As their mutual journey of self-discovery brings them closer, the secrecy becomes increasingly hard to deal with. If they’re going to have a future together, they both need to find the courage to show people who they really are.

Although this book is part of a linked series, it can be read and enjoyed as a standalone.

Jenn Review
3.5 – 4 Stars
I have really enjoyed this series and was definitely looking forward to Wicksy’s story. It wasn’t quite what I expected but I did enjoy it as well. This is really a journey of self discovery for both Simon and Charlie.
Simon has always believed he was straight, but when he sees drag queen, Lady Gogo he can’t help the attraction he feels. Charlie is exploring his feminine side for the first time, and Lady Gogo is how he gets to show it off and keep his identity private. Hooking up tests boundaries for both of these men, both doing it for very different reasons, but it works for them.
There is a lot to this story, more than just romance or chemistry, it really is about these guys figuring out who they really are and accepting and embracing that. There are definitely times of struggle with these guys and the relationship that forms between them. A lot of times it felt a bit emotionally muddy, and I don’t mean that in a bad way at all. There is a lot of that both Simon and Charlie have to figure out. I enjoyed this story and these characters, especially the growth they experience. Charlie and Simon are a great addition to this great group!

Blog Tour: Learning Curve by Andi Jaxon

Happy Friday! Today we are excited to be a part of the Blog Tour for Learning Curve by Andi Jaxon!

Title: Learning Curve
Author: Andi Jaxon
Genre: M/M Romance
Release Date: April 18, 2019

Alister Bennet
Loyal, reliable… predictable even, I’ve always done what’s expected of me. Stay out of trouble, get my teaching degree and build a respectable career as a college professor. The job comes with a long list of rules and at the top of that list is no fraternizing with students. Following the rules seemed easy enough, until a dark, tortured boy sat outside my office waiting for me. His voice told me it was his grade he was worried about, but the deep onyx pools of his eyes told me more as they shook the solid ground I’d always stood on.
Am I willing to risk my career, my carefully built reputation, to help one so filled with pain I can taste it?
Benjamin Wallace
Rejected, abused, and abandoned my entire life, all I’ve ever wanted was to be accepted, loved even. I thought going to college on a scholarship would be my ticket out of hell, but nothing good ever comes without a price. As graduation nears I find myself drawn to the mysterious professor like a moth to a flame. Just one meeting with the man that has been staring in my dreams has my soul screaming for him to hold me, comfort me. A relationship isn’t just frowned upon, it’s forbidden, but the heart doesn’t always know the difference.
Can I trust my mangled heart in his perfect life when my past repeats itself or will he destroy what is left of me?
*Author’s note: This is an MM teacher-student romance with themes including abuse and kidnapping. This story ends with a HEA.*

Wow, this was an emotional read and Ben absolutely broke my heart! Right from the start he was one of those characters that I was just rooting for, if someone deserves happiness it is without a doubt Ben! Enter Alister and his immediately protective nature towards Ben and you’ve got a powerful and loving story!
I loved the differences between these two men and how it played to their journey. Ben hasn’t known love or care and Alister is the perfect person to show him that it can come without a price. I really loved the patience and dedication Alister shows Ben throughout and the relationship they build together. This really felt like a book about healing and the power of love! It was heartbreaking at times but also beautiful and encouraging and I just felt the love between these two! Definitely a recommended read!

Laundry Librarian – “Have you ever been touched by a story so deeply, the feelings it draws out of you linger for weeks, months or even years after finishing it? Learning Curve was that kind of book for me.”

The Little Bookworm – “I love a great forbidden romance and Learning Curve is definitely now on the top of that list for me.”

A Book Lover’s Emporium Book Blog – “Forbidden? Teacher/student? M/M? Oh HELL YEAH! This book has all my favourite things!”

From Dyslexic kid with a love of Algebra to a published author, no one is more surprised to find me here, than I am. I love to write about tortured pasts and hot sex, a happily ever after that has to be worked for. My stories tend to be a little dark but with some comic relief, typically in the form of sarcasm.

I have loved this series and oh holy moly I LOVED this book! It was emotional, passionate and absolutely beautiful. This is definitely one of my favorites from A.L. Jackson! Mack and Izzy, as well as Dillon and Benjamin completely captured my heart and I could not put their story down. I am a huge fan of second chance romance and this is one of the best!
Mack and Izzy are just meant to be, there has been a connection between these from the moment they met as kids, and despite mistakes and heartbreak, years later that ‘something’ is still there between them. Their journey isn’t really about finding love, it’s about battling through the pain of the past, the fears of getting hurt again and believing that they truly do deserve to be happy together. I feel like this is one of those books where I just want to talk about every bit of it, making my review longer than the book itself, I just loved so much. The writing is beautiful and so full of feeling, I laughed and cried and felt everything. This book is love and hope and redemption and an absolute MUST READ.

Don’t miss the awesome giveaway for the Pieces of Us release! It’s the first two books from the Confessions of the Heart Series + Kindle Fire + Polaroid Camera + All the Goods!

Title: Over and Back

Author: Andrew Grey

Series: Bronco Boys Book 5

Genre: M/M Contemporary Romance

Publisher: DreamSpinner Press

Release Date: April 9 2019

Edition/Format: 1st Edition/Format ~ eBook & Print

Blurb/Synopsis:

Sequel to Round and Round

Opposites attract on an overseas holiday, but trouble has hitched a ride.

While Bronco’s nightclub is closed for renovations, the owners invite the staff on a trip to Italy. Bartender Hank needs a roommate, and he’s had his eye on waiter Grant for a while, even if he’s had to keep his distance. But sharing such close proximity means sparks are sure to fly….

Grant has a problem saying no, and it’s led him into some less-than-healthy relationships. While he’s determined not to repeat his mistakes, it’s clear Hank is different.

They’re both willing to take it slow and explore the feelings building between them, but even in a foreign country, their pasts are catching up, and that could hurt more than just their budding romance.

Over and Back is book 5 in this series, but can easily be read as a standalone. I thought this was a fun and intriguing read, one that has a bit of everything. There’s great chemistry, a bit of angst, sweetness and some good suspense. Oh and the scenery is incredible as well. This book is another example of why Andrew Grey is a go-to author for me.

I really liked Grant and Hank, they are both a little bit broken from previous relationships and leery about getting involved with anyone again, but this trip to Italy throws them together and their attraction to each other is undeniable. It takes some time but they start to open up to each other, getting to know the good stuff and the rough stuff too. Even with their fears, something special develops between them.

One of my favorite things in this book was the open, honest relationship that develops between Grant and Hank. I felt like they really brought out the best in each other and it was easy to see the real love that existed between them right from the start. Grant sees himself as weak and as a pushover, but Hank sees the strength in him and is quick to tell him he sees it. I think there was just the right amount of angst and stresses for this group too, it kept me reading, needing to know more but it wasn’t too much. I absolutely adored the way this story came together for Hank and Grant. I really like this group and would definitely love to spend time with them!

Hank couldn’t believe he had actually agreed to have Grant as a roommate for this trip. Not that he didn’t like the guy. In fact, that was sort of the problem. His first instinct had been to say no and try to figure out how to go alone. Danny would have a fit if he found out Hank was going to be rooming with Grant. Still, how in the hell could he say no? Hank knew from Zach that Grant needed a friend. Hank sure as hell knew what that felt like, and in the end, he’d agreed. After all, they were only going to be roommates. And they’d be an ocean away from Danny and his jealousy. Hank would just need to make sure Danny didn’t find out.

But it was too late to worry about that now. He’d made the decision, and the more he thought about it, the more he realized that he actually felt pretty good, maybe even kind of excited.

He pulled into Bull and Zach’s driveway and parked behind Harry’s Tahoe. Zach had called together a trip-planning meeting so they could go over everything, including the day tours that they’d already booked. Hank was met at the door by Bull, who hugged him and ushered him inside. He seemed to be the last to arrive, and he got hugs from everyone but Grant, who stood off to the side, looking nervous, seemingly interested in the shoes he was wearing.

“Hey, Grant,” Hank said gently.

Huge blue eyes met his for a second. “Hi, Hank.” His voice was really soft, but he gave Hank a little crooked smile. “This is kind of exciting.”

“Okay,” Zach said as he returned from the kitchen, placing trays of small sandwiches on the coffee table. Bull followed with a tray of drinks and set that down as well. “Help yourself to munchies,” Zach said as he passed out a spreadsheet printout. “I went ahead and put together a schedule for the things we’ve already taken care of. But one thing we still need to look at is getting train tickets to Newark. The flight leaves late, so we should be able to take the same-day train from Harrisburg.”

Hank sat down, and Grant took the seat on the sofa next to him. The kid was wound as tight as a drum. If he’s like this the entire trip, it’s going to be one hell of a good time, Hank thought, sarcasm rolling through his head. Grant reached for a can of Diet Coke and sipped from it. Hank grabbed a beer, because right now, he needed one.

“We fly directly to Rome, and we’re booked into a hotel on the outskirts. There’s a subway station not too far away, and we can get into the city that way. We have nothing planned for our first day. It’ll give us time to just rest up for what’s ahead. On Wednesday we have a guided tour of some ancient Roman ruins and the Colosseum in the afternoon, so we can sleep in if jet lag is a problem. On Thursday we have a private group tour of the Vatican Museums and St. Peter’s in the morning, and then I thought we could walk to the Trevi Fountain and Pantheon after lunch.”

“This looks really great,” Hank interrupted. “What’s with Saturday?”

“There’s no need to go over everything that’s already on the sheet,” Bull told Hank gently. “Saturday is Zach’s event. There’s an anime conference, and Zach is signing autographs and meeting fans. He and I will be there most of the day. And we thought that everyone should have some time to do what they wanted.” He squeezed Zach’s hand.

“On Sunday we have a train to Florence, where we’ll spend three full days,” Zach continued. “I put together a schedule based on when things are open. You can look at that. I didn’t know if everyone wanted to go together or on their own. It’s up to you. But I did make reservations for us to climb the cathedral dome on Thursday morning before we leave.”

Book synopsis:
Everything’s bigger in Alaska, especially the HEAs. Annabeth Albert kicks off the brand-new Frozen Hearts series with Arctic Sun, an opposites-attract romance between a rugged outdoorsman and a smoking hot former male model.

He’s built a quiet life for himself in Alaska. But it doesn’t stand a chance against the unrelenting pull of a man who’s everything he shouldn’t want.

Ex-military mountain man Griffin Barrett likes his solitude. It keeps him from falling back into old habits. Bad habits. He’s fought too hard for his sobriety to lose control now. However, his gig as a wildlife guide presents a new kind of temptation in superhot supermodel River Vale. Nothing the Alaskan wilderness has to offer has ever called to Griffin so badly. And that can only lead to trouble…

River has his own methods for coping. Chasing adventure means always moving forward. Nobody’s ever made him want to stand still—until Griffin. The rugged bush pilot is the very best kind of distraction, but the emotions he stirs up in River feel anything but casual, and he’s in no position to stay put.

With temptation lurking in close quarters, keeping even a shred of distance is a challenge neither’s willing to meet. And the closer Griffin gets to River, the easier it is to ignore every last reason he should run.

One-click with confidence. This title is part of the Carina Press Romance Promise: all the romance you’re looking for with an HEA/HFN. It’s a promise!

I really do love Annabeth’s books and definitely enjoyed this one, the setting is absolutely stunning, the characters are complex and their journey is emotional! Griffin and River couldn’t be more different, Griffin is former military and gruff and tough and River is a former male model. They have a few things in common, an intense attraction and a whole lots of issues! These two come packed with serious baggage!

I really liked these two together, even from the start it’s clear there is something special between them. This story touches on some serious issues, addiction and eating disorders, and I think Annabeth Albert does a good job with it. It’s not a quick fix, everything is okay thing, these guys struggle and it takes time. There is love and healing and the way it all comes together is what makes my heart happy!

Check out this teaser: The mountain man scowled at River. The older guy next to him was the one splashed all over the website— well-known photographer Roger Barrett—with the sort of craggy features that suggested a long life lived in the sun. He smiled at River, shaking his hand, and telling him what a fan his sister-in-law and nieces were of his book. But it wasn’t the old guy who held River’s attention at all. No, that was all reserved for Mr. Tall, Dark, and Cranky, who clearly didn’t share Roger’s good opinion of River, but good heavens, the man certainly made all those rumors about mountains and fresh air resulting in larger-than-average humans seem true.

He totally looked the mountain man part too— shaggy brown hair, the sort of tan that River’s friends would pay good money to emulate, hazel eyes that re- minded River of the greenish brown stone of a mosque he’d visited in Istanbul. And muscles for days. Big, broad shoulders stretching the fabric of a denim shirt, thighs like tree trunks, and that scowl. This was a guy who would be at home playing the sheriff in some old west drama. Or maybe a gunslinger…

What happens when you try to fix the past and end up threatening your future?

Scott is struggling. Grieving the loss of his brother, carrying the weight of his father’s expectations, and getting his ass kicked in the rink, he’s in a downward spiral. He needs a solution and fast, but when his steroid use is exposed, he’s close to losing his place at Owatonna and more importantly, on the Eagles Hockey team. Thrown out of his house, with nowhere to go and no future in sight, he only has one choice; agree to mandatory counseling, random drug tests, and get his act together. Only then will he have a chance at normal. Meeting Hayne, a senior connected to the world through his art, is a shock to the system. Moving in with him is his only option, but falling for the shy artist leaves Scott in an impossible situation, and one he can’t escape.

Hayne has always been that quiet, creative kid who sat in the back of class drawing instead of listening to the teacher. A talented artist, the shy and sensitive young man is struggling with the loss of his childhood friend. Seeing his sadness reflected in his usually colorful paintings, he decides to attend grief counseling and meets Scott, a lost soul in desperate need of light and color in his life. Taking in a homeless hockey player certainly was never part of his carefully orchestrated ten-year plan. But now that Scott is in his life, he’s discovering the joy of this man’s loving smile and tender touch is one of the most beautiful palettes on earth.

There is just something about hockey romance that just makes me happy and RJ Scott and V.L. Locey deliver another hockey story I really enjoyed!

There really is a lot to this story and it’s definitely not as hockey focused as some of their books but it really is a touching story about healing and love! Scott finds himself in some trouble with the team after his steroid use is discovered. On top of trying to deal with the death of his brother, now he is abandoned by his family. Hayne has always been the quirky, artistic type so he doesn’t always fit in, he too is dealing with a loss and meets Scott at a grief support group. He’s leery about the jock but there’s something about Scott that makes him want to help. He offers him a place to stay and so it begins.

There is a good amount of angst in this book, a lot of emotion but I really liked Scott and Hayne and their journey! These two are opposites brought together by grief but they find something together and heal. Definitely a more emotional read, but a good one for sure!

USA Today bestselling author RJ Scott writes stories with a heart of romance, a troubled road to reach happiness, and most importantly, a happily ever after.

Frankie:

My life sucks.

After spending a year jobless and on the edge of becoming homeless, I’d officially reached a level of desperation that, even if I wasn’t completely broke, retail therapy couldn’t fix.

While Sawyer’s Ferry, Alaska, is the last place on earth I’d ever want to visit, when my best friend, Holden, begs me to fly out and plan his wedding, I can’t say no.  What I didn’t expect was to stumble into the administrative chaos at Copper Creek Brewing—or its too-hot-to-be-legal owner.

Clearly the man needs my help, and I’m willing to go above and beyond.

Way beyond.

Barrett:

I am screwed.

Six months after my assistant up and quit, I’m not any closer to finding a replacement, and things at the brewery are starting to fall apart.

And then in walks Frankie. He’s not the typical guy you’d find in these parts, and he brings with him a world of confusion. Because as much as I need his help, I can’t seem to keep my eyes—or hands—off him.

He’s supposed to be getting my life in order, but instead there’s a chance he could turn everything upside down.

4.5 Stars

YES – we get Frankie’s story! I have really enjoyed this series and have been wanting to more about Frankie from the first book and I have to say I think Cate Ashwood really delivers! This was such a fun read and I really loved Frankie and Barrett so much!

Frankie’s life has been a bit of a mess since the downfall of his former boss, he hasn’t been able to find a steady new job, he’s living with his cousin and that has an expiration date. When Holden wants him to come to Alaska to help plan his wedding, it’s not exactly Frankie’s dream trip, but maybe it will help him sort out his life. What he definitely doesn’t expect is Barrett, the brewery owner who is dead sexy and makes Frankie want all kinds of new things. Barrett has a successful career, his brewery has really taken off, but his personal life is a bit lacking. His wife left Sawyer’s Ferry to follow her dreams, but Barrett realized his dreams are right there in Sawyer’s Ferry and couldn’t follow. Everything changes when fierce and sassy Frankie shows up, ends up helping him with the admin side of his business and shows him what true love is.

There is so much to love about this book, the location, the characters, the chemistry, the sass and of course the love. Frankie and Barrett are two incredibly different men, but they are perfect for each other. The connection is there right from the start, even if Barrett struggles to make sense of what he is feeling, and it’s great to see them grow and open up to each other. As fun as I thought this was, it has it’s emotional moments too as these guys struggle with how they really feel about each other and what the future could possibly hold for them. And I loved it, from start to finish, I just adored them and their journey. It’s also a bonus to catch up with the characters from the previous books. This is definitely a must read book and series!
