Everett Monroe can’t keep his eyes off his gorgeous tenant.

He’d like to put his hands on her too, but she’s prickly, closed-off, and gives new meaning to the word disgruntled. In other words, she’s his perfect match and he’ll do anything to make her see it too.

Willa Hill has finally left her teen runaway past behind and wants a fresh start—alone. Men are nothing but trouble and she’s had enough man-trouble to last a lifetime.

Too bad her irresistibly sexy, nerdy-hot landlord doesn’t agree.

When their mutual yearning becomes a white-hot fling and passion crosses carefully drawn, albeit one-sided boundaries, Everett finds himself in love and Willa finds herself in a pickle.

Because, unfortunately, when she returned to Green Valley, her problems came too.

When the past she escaped crashes into the future she finds herself wanting more than anything, will Willa stay in Green Valley?

Or will she run away again?

‘Carpentry and Cocktails’ is a full-length contemporary romance, can be read as a standalone, and is book #5 in the Green Valley Library series, Green Valley World, Penny Reid Book Universe.

GVL05-TEASER03

Excerpt

We had danced together before, the night I’d first met her. Months ago, I’d been at Genie’s with Wyatt to have a few beers and shake off the day. Instead, I’d danced all evening with the most beautiful woman I’d ever seen. Every time I remembered holding her close, I had to fight against getting hard. Since that night, I had been half in love with her. The physical half was all in—I was attracted to her something fierce. The mental half didn’t know enough to start the fall, even though everything I learned about her drew me in and each day made me fall a little further. She was skittish with a fiercely sharp wit; she had been hurt. I could tell she was protecting a soft spot and it made me want to discover it so I could be the one to keep her safe.

But she had kept her distance from me—well, as much as she possibly could while living in the apartment in my basement—and we hadn’t touched again, not once. Having her crash into my arms just now was heady stuff. Her scent, the feel of her body, the warm press of her against me—she made me feel intoxicated, and I had yet to order a single drink. My heart was in danger, but I couldn’t make myself stay away.

“My sister…I’m sorry—” she stammered as she started to step back.

I tugged her closer instead of letting her get away. “Don’t apologize. Dance with me?” My hands drifted around her waist as I started moving us backward toward the dance floor.

“Oh, I don’t know if we should.” Hesitation flashed briefly in her eyes, but she acquiesced and followed me across the floor as I turned to hold her hand, giving it a gentle tug of encouragement.

Leaning to the side, I whispered in her ear as we walked. “It’s just a dance, Willard.” I pulled back and grinned down at her with a wink. Her gorgeous eyes—big and light blue like the summer sky—widened as she opened her mouth to say something, but I twirled her under my arm instead of letting her speak. Country music blasted through the bar, fast and wild. It left no room for hesitation. I yanked her into my arms. “Okay?” I shouted over the music.

My mother loved to dance; she taught all us boys how. A gentleman always takes his lady dancing. And maintains a respectful distance. I took a small step back, placing my hand on Willa’s upper back as our fingers linked together. With a step forward, she closed that distance to press against me once more. My lips curled up in a grin as her hand tightened in mine and her arm slid around my neck, hand drifting through the back of my tied-back hair. She wasn’t as immune to me as she pretended to be and I wouldn’t dare test that by stepping away from her again, even if it wasn’t gentlemanly. If she wanted me close, then that’s where I’d be.

Her gorgeous eyes twinkled in the lights as she smiled up at me and her body relaxed in my arms. “Okay, Everett. I’ll dance with you,” she breathed. Her voice was much too quiet to hear over the blaring music, but my focus on her gorgeous mouth allowed me to understand her words.

Quick, quick, slow—our easy Texas two-step was the same as everyone else’s on the floor but with her in my arms, this felt like so much more than a simple dance. I led her across the floor, spinning her out and pulling her back. I wanted to make her laugh again, like I did during our last dance so many months ago. I wanted her to want me as much as I wanted her. We had almost shared a kiss that night but were interrupted before anything could happen. She had the prettiest lips; full and soft and always pink. If I never kissed Willa before I died, it would be one of my greatest regrets. I had faith the right moment would present itself. As the song came to an end, I took both of her hands to spin her under my arms before dipping her low over my knee. Her ponytail brushed the floor as her neck arched back. She laughed, lifted her head and my heart skipped a beat as her eyes shone into mine with unbridled delight. Her sexy laugh tickled over my skin like I wished her hands would do and I felt the fall I was so afraid of coming even closer.

“God, you’re such a good dancer. Where’d you learn to dance like this, Everett?” she asked, slightly breathless and totally adorable as she beamed up at me. It seemed that dancing with Willa was one of the keys to get her to respond to me. I filed that fact away for future contemplation as I pulled her up and into my hold once again.

My smile turned sideways as I was about to admit my nerdy momma’s-boy truth to her. “From my mother,” I shouted over the music. “She loves to dance. My father tries, but he isn’t very good at it, so she taught all us boys how. We used to take turns two-stepping with her all over the living room.”

“That’s the sweetest thing ever,” she said. Score one for the nerds!

“One more?” I didn’t want to let her go yet.

“Sure, I have time for one more before I have to get back to work.”

With its slower beat and romantic lyrics, Lady Antebellum’s “I Run to You” changed the energy between us. The rise and fall of her chest as she sighed against me filled me with need as her forehead briefly rested on my shoulder and our fingers linked. I loved it that she was so tall. At six-foot-six I towered over most women, but Willa fit me just right. My need grew urgent as I wrapped my arm around her waist and my hand met the soft swipe of her skin, bared by the tied hem of her Genie’s tank top. Smooth and warm, it tempted me into thoughts inappropriate for our location. I inhaled a sharp breath to regain control. Dipping my head low, I took in her sweet scent as my cheek rested against hers—so soft. Her curly hair tickled my chin as my senses filled with nothing but her. Having her next to me felt right and I didn’t understand why. My heart raced out of control and I wondered just what it was about her that made me react so intensely.

She reminded me of a Palomino horse; all long legs, flowing light blond hair, and pale skin kissed with adorable freckles. Willa was some kind of wild, and totally free. I shut my eyes and pictured her running across her momma’s land up in the hills above town with her gorgeous hair flying behind her like a gold cloud, her laughter trailing through the air. God, she was the most beautiful woman I’d ever seen. I grit my teeth as my control started slipping away again. I was in danger of making a fool of myself. I was in danger of a lot of things, and a broken heart was at the top of that list.

“I love this song…” she whispered in my ear as she pulled away. Her head lifted from my shoulder as her hand trailed down my arm. She linked our fingers and I resumed leading her around the floor, rather than the slow sway we’d fallen into when the song started.

“Mm hmm,” I muttered as I gazed into her eyes and smiled faintly, at a loss for words.

She studied my face. “Everett, why do I always feel like when you’re looking at me, you really see me?” she murmured.

“I do see you. Sometimes you’re all I see,” I confessed, hoping it wasn’t too much, too soon.

Lowering her head, she tucked her blushing cheek into the side of my neck and sighed against my skin, leaving goosebumps in the wake of her breath. I continued leading her across the dance floor with my heart beating like crashing thunder bolts in my chest. I should be careful; I didn’t want her to end up being just another girl I fell for who didn’t want me back. Story of my life.

~Wendy

About:

23492689 (3)The long-awaited follow-up novel to the runaway New York Times bestseller Just One Night—which Publishers Weekly gave a starred review and proclaimed, “Davis skillfully creates an uplifting story in which sex is presented both as freedom and as a metaphor for power, and where raw chemistry is the clear winner over bland complacency.”

In the instant international sensation Just One Night, sensible Kasie Fitzgerald unleashed her passions—and found herself—through an explosive affair. In Just One Lie, we meet Kasie’s wild and tortured sister, whose impulsivity and lack of self-control has set off a chain of events that changes her family forever.

Melody Fitzgerald is the opposite of the “perfect” daughter. The lead singer of an indie rock band, she is impulsive and creative, with a rebellious streak that both defines her and becomes her greatest enemy. Her lover, the enticing and unpredictable Ash, shares her free spirit and penchant for trouble. On the face of it, he seems to be her perfect match.

So why is she so drawn to her soft spoken, reliable drummer, Brad Witmer? How can a man who wears polo shirts and reads the financial section of the paper be of any interest to her at all? And why on earth does someone like that appear to be so captivated by her?

Before she knows it, Melody finds herself on a path of self-discovery, passion, and affairs of the heart. But will a dark secret from her past derail it all? Or will its exposure be the very thing that unburdens her heart and allows her to seek a future with the one man who loves her completely?

My thoughts:

“Once upon a time there was a hacker.”

And he stole my heart!

When I went to bed last night after finishing Heart-Shaped Hack I didn’t think I could love this book any more than I already did. I was SO wrong! As soon as my eyes opened this morning, I wanted to be back in Ian and Kate’s world and stay there all day long. After reading a book this amazing, reality can seem really boring!!   #majorbookhangover

“People wouldn’t sleep as well at night if they knew what hackers were capable of.”

“Then I guess I’ll sleep extra soundly when the best hacker of them all is in my bed.”

I’m going to admit that for the first five chapters, I made so many notes about how Ian would just creep me out. When Kate says that he has absolutely NO boundaries, she hit the nail on the head. The man seriously did not know what that word meant!! But as the book goes on, that cocky, intrusive, and almost always wildly inappropriate man started showing how caring, tender, and sweet he really was. Slowly, but completely, he stole my heart and I don’t want it back.  By the end of the book, Ian had earned himself a forever home on my list of book boyfriends!!

“Maybe she didn’t know how it would feel to be loved by Ian, but she knew how it would  feel to love him because that night, in his bed after hearing his story, Kate’s heart felt like it would burst and she fell hard”

Kate is my new hero. Target shopper (that right there would cinch her as my favorite!), Netflix watcher, the humble owner of an amazing amount of tolerance, kindness, and compassion, this woman has it all.  She opens her heart to Ian KNOWING that there’s a huge chance it’s going to get broken, and wow, does it ever, but she stays this amazingly kind, open person. When her heart broke, mine shattered right along with her.  She is that kind of character that you instantly connect with, and want to be your best friend.

“You’re going to kill me, Ian. And I mean that in the most wonderfully satisfying way.”

Heart-Shaped Hack is a MUST read, one that deserves more than 5 stars.  If you love wit and banter in a book, then grab this one ASAP!. The degree of wit, and how skillfully the author pulls off blending it with the serious, more heart wrenching moments is simply stunning. This is the first book that I have read by this author, but I promise you it won’t be the last.

The only problem with how well this was written is now every I see a Jumbotron, or drive past one of those electric highway signs, I’m going to be wondering were my hacker is!!

“Always choose love. Always choose the adventure. You’ll never regret it.”

EXCERPT:

Kate was taking a break and having coffee and a muffin at Wilde Roast Café when Ian slid into the booth and sat across from her. He was wearing a lightweight cream-colored sweater with a tan-and-green-patterned shirt underneath, and he smelled good.

“Hello again.”

Confused, Kate looked around. “Where did you come from?”

“I walked in the door like everyone else.”

“Do you live nearby?” Kate lived in the St. Anthony Main neighborhood of Northeast Minneapolis. The food pantry was conveniently located on SE Main Street, which was a short three-block walk from her apartment. The quiet brick-paved street was lined with restaurants, shops, and a movie theater and included a stunning view of the Mississippi River and St. Anthony Falls. There were also bars that featured live music and plenty of green space in nearby parks.

He shook his head. “Not really.”

“Then why are you here?”

“I felt like talking to you again. You’re seated, so you probably won’t try to strangle me this time.”

“How did you know where to find me?” She was tucked away in a back booth instead of one of the tables near the windows that looked out over SE Main, so it wasn’t like he’d walked by and spotted her.

He held a steaming cup of coffee and blew on it to cool it. “I tracked your credit card activity. According to Capital One, you bought a cup of coffee and a muffin here twelve minutes ago.”

“You tracked my credit card?” Her voice sounded rather loud and shrieky.

He held a finger in front of his mouth. “Shh, Katie Long Legs. That information is for your ears only. How’s your coffee? Would you like a refill?”

Kate did not appreciate being shushed, but she lowered her voice. “Are you some kind of cyberthief?” she whispered. And since when were criminals so well-dressed and impeccably groomed?

“I did not steal your credit card number. I simply accessed your account to see where and when you’d used it last. Then I came here.”

“If you wanted to talk to me again, why didn’t you just go to the food pantry?”

He looked at her like it was obvious. “Because you’re not there. You’re here at this café.”

“If you’re not a cyberthief, then what are you?”

“I’m a hacker.”

“Is there a difference?”

“Most definitely.”

“When you said you steal from the rich to give to the poor, I thought you were kidding. Is that how you get the money?”

“I don’t steal it. I appropriate it from people who shouldn’t have it in the first place. Then I give it to those who are more deserving.”

Kate twisted her napkin. “I can’t keep the money. I’ve already spent the first two donations, but if you come back to the food pantry with me, I can return the most recent one. It’s still locked in the safe because I wasn’t planning on going shopping until tomorrow.”

“No, Katie. I don’t want it back. It’s for you. It’s for the babies.”

“It’s wrong,” she said quietly.

“Is it?”

“It’s against the law.”

“Trust me when I say the people I took it from don’t want the law involved any more than I do.”

“What are you saying? That you’re a thief who steals from other thieves?”

He wrinkled his nose, and it was adorable.

Stop! Thief!

“It sounds so distasteful when you say it like that. I prefer master appropriator of ill-gotten funds. You can call me master for short.”

“I have lots of things I’d like to call you. Master is not one of them.”

Today, Jenn and I are so excited to share our review of Sustained with you guys! This book, and this entire series, is one of our favorites, and we love being able to review it together. I don’t think there is a single thing we would change about it, and we are pretty sure you guys will love it too!

About Sustained (The Legal Briefs #2):

22926485A knight in tarnished armor is still a knight.

When you’re a defense attorney in Washington, DC, you see firsthand how hard life can be, and that sometimes the only way to survive is to be harder. I, Jake Becker, have a reputation for being cold, callous, and intimidating—and that suits me just fine. In fact, it’s necessary when I’m breaking down a witness on the stand.

Complications don’t work for me—I’m a “need-to-know” type of man. If you’re my client, tell me the basic facts. If you’re my date, stick to what will turn you on. I’m not a therapist or Prince Charming—and I don’t pretend to be.

Then Chelsea McQuaid and her six orphaned nieces and nephews came along and complicated the ever-loving hell out of my life. Now I’m going to Mommy & Me classes, One Direction concerts, the emergency room, and arguing cases in the principal’s office.

Chelsea’s too sweet, too innocent, and too gorgeous for her own good. She tries to be tough, but she’s not. She needs someone to help her, defend her…and the kids.

And that — that, I know how to do.

Our review:

1: How great was it getting to immerse yourself in Stanton, Sophie, Jake, and Brent again?

Jenn: Oh my gosh, I love this group so hard! This is one of those groups that I want to be a part of and it feels so good to have them back.
I love how connected they are with each other – they are true friends! And god, Brent makes me laugh – I’m so wanting his story!
.
Wendy: Oh my word!! I have missed these guys SO much!! I feel like I know them so well, like I went to college with them or something. Reading Sustained was liking coming home and spending a week with your old friends.
And Brent, I made so many notes throughout both books, just expressing how much I am dying for his story. You give me a character that is a likable, physically disabled man, and the author can make it work like Emma Chase has so far, and you have given me pure happiness in print!

PicsArt_1430197472925~8

2: What did you think about Chelsea? And the kids…were they not kick ass or what?!?

Jenn: I have to admit that I’m not that much of a kid person and sometimes I find them distracting in books but not these kids, oh how I loved this crazy bunch! They are obviously dealing with a tragedy, but they really are a fantastic family. I loved that each kid truly was an individual in this story! (At least that’s how it felt to me) I loved the twins, Rory and Raymond – god I laughed so hard at some of the stuff they did! And yes, there is such a part of me that just wants to say “hi” over and over again!
Chelsea is an amazing character and I loved her instantly. She gave up her entire life in an instant to raise her 6 nieces and nephews. I can’t even imagine what that would be like, or the crazy it would bring. But she does it brilliantly, not perfectly, but brilliantly.
 .
Wendy:  I stuck so many notes in the book, trying to figure out which kid was my favorite. (It’s still a toss up between Regan and Rosaleen!) All I can say is the author must be the coolest mother ever! The way she wrote these kids, and their relationships with the adults, made you fall in love with them AND the story so much more, on such a deeper level. I can’t remember the words HI and NO ever being so funny!!
And Chelsea. Man, what’s NOT to love about her?!? Totally selfless, kind, compassionate, funny…I could go on forever about how amazing she is. She is not only my favorite female Emma Chase character, she is one of my ALL-TIME favorites!! She is a character I wouldn’t change a thing about.

PicsArt_1430197472925~8

3: What about Jake?

Jenn: Jake, oh I can’t even…he is so much wonderful. He’s used to his ordered and attachment free lifestyle until one incident thrusts him into Chelsea’s life. Chelsea and those kids are going to change his entire world. I absolutely loved this journey for Jake! He didn’t have an easy start and it wasn’t until someone stepped in and gave him the right guidance that he found his path. I love that he sees that in Rory and his struggles too. It just melted my ever-loving heart. I think Jake has become one of my favorite characters, his heart is just amazing and although he makes mistakes, I know he’s a good guy. Two words: ONE DIRECTION!
I feel like he is the perfect combination on alpha, funny and loving. And he’s the perfect match for Chelsea. The two of them together are just perfection!
.
Wendy: *sigh* Jake. I NEVER thought I’d say this, but he just gave Drew a run for his money. As of now, he is definitely my favorite. Under the outer shell that makes him sometimes come across a little asshole-y, he is kind, and sweet, and considerate. And wow, we CANNOT leave out hot AF!! The man just has it all!!
PicsArt_1430197472925~8

4: Where does Sustained stand in the rankings of Emma Chase’s books?

Jenn: I think this may be my new favorite Emma Chase book, I’ve loved them all, but I think she hit every mark with Sustained. It was funny, touching and just all around perfect! I fell so hard for this entire crew and I just want more! This is that kind of book that I want to read over and over again because it’s just that wonderful.
 .
Wendy: I’ve got to say it, Sustained is hands down my new favorite Emma Chase book. I’m usually the girl that the first book  that I read by an author, that one book that makes me fall in love with them, that’s the one that will always be my favorite. But not in this case. I still love Tangled, but for me, Sustained just took my love for her writing to a whole new level. I love it. HARD!!

PicsArt_1430197472925~8

5: Overall thoughts?

Jenn: 5 huge perfect stars! I loved this book, it’s just that simple. It was such a great story and so well written. Emma Chase does such an amazing job of creating such full characters, making you love them so hard and get completely lost in their story. I will be a fan for life!
 .

PREORDER Appealed (The Legal Briefs #3):

51OWOu8tjPL._SX320_BO1,204,203,200_When Brent Mason looks at Kennedy Randolph, he doesn’t see the awkward, sweet girl who grew up next door. He sees a self-assured, stunning woman…who wants to crush the most intimate – and prized – parts of his anatomy beneath the heels of her Christian Louboutins.

Brent has never let the loss of his leg in a childhood accident affect his ability to lead a fulfilling life. He sets high goals–and then he reaches them.

And now he has his sights set on Kennedy.
**
When Kennedy looks at Brent Mason, all she sees is the selfish, Abercrombie & Fitch catalogue-worthy teenager who humiliated her in high school to join the popular crowd. A crowd that made those years a living hell.

She’s not a lovesick social outcast anymore – she’s a DC prosecutor with a long winning streak behind her. Brent is the opposing attorney in her next case and she thinks it’s time to put him through a little hell of his own.

But things aren’t exactly working out that way.

Because every fiery exchange has her wondering if he’s as passionate in the bedroom as he is in the courtroom. Each argument and objection only makes him want her more. In the end, Brent and Kennedy may just find themselves in love…or in contempt of court.

APPEALED is a sexy, humorous romance about first crushes, second chances and the final verdict of the heart.

Adam James is a corn-fed, Nebraska raised, piece of man meat with a chiseled body and baby face. He is in desperate need of a paycheck and will do just about anything to get one, including stripping down to his skivvies and lathering up in baby oil.

Solo Cohan is a quirky hipster with a strong work ethic, raised by two gay dads who are head over heels in love with Harrison Ford and Star Wars, hence the name, Solo. She works for Teeg Model Management, the same modeling agency that decides to book Adam as their next up and coming model. Sparks ignite between her and Adam the minute her baby oil soaked hand connects with his practically naked body.

Even though Solo can’t stop thinking about Adam during photo shoots, she quickly and awkwardly, shows Adam her distaste for male models and her inability to engage romantically with them. Adam is captivated by her nerdy talk and peculiar tendencies and sets out to make it his mission to turn the Star Wars loving hipster to the dark side, where mingling with models is widely arousing.

My thoughts:

5 STARS

Welcome to geek girl nirvana!!

Reading Newly Exposed is a few hours of heaven for us dorky girls here on earth. An unapologetically geeked out girl and a hot, humble, equally nerdy model, not only falling for each other, but somehow making it work? Yes, please, and can I have seconds?? (hint…hint…I want another book!!)

It always surprises me how well Meghan Quinn can mix humor and sexy, and come up with a book that is so endearingly heart-warming and funny that you can’t help but fall in love with the characters and her writing. There were a few times that I was on the edge of my seat, swearing at her, knowing she was THIS close to breaking my heart, but I also knew she would come through for me, like she always does, and make everything better. She hit a home run with this one. I was hooked throughout the entire story!

Here are a few things I love about Newly Exposed:

I love the humor.
I love the sexy.
I love that it is not a typical male model book. (Much more humble, laid back, and down to earth!)
I LOVE the total geekfest going on between Adam and Solo.
I love that I will never hear Justin Bieber’s name  or the word helicopter again without my mind going somewhere else.
I love that I had to look up a few terms…Just be careful with what you Google. LOL..there are some words you just should NOT look up on Urban Dictionary!

Basically, I love everything about Newly Exposed! If you haven’t read Meghan Quinn’s books before, this is a great starting place. If you have, you already know that she’s a great writer, and it’s pretty much a guarantee that you are going to love this one too!

A new word I learned from Newly Exposed.

Tour Teaser 3

Title: Insider (Exodus End #1)

Author: Olivia Cunning

Release Date: June 30, 2015

Find on Goodreads

17899089Synopsis:

Toni wants to be an insider.

Logan just wants inside her.

She thought she was ready to rock…

Toni Nichols put her aspirations on hold while she raised her little sister, but now she’s reaching for the stars and living her dreams as the creator of a revolutionary interactive biography about the rock band Exodus End. Creating the book requires her to go on tour and immerse herself in the band’s world as an insider, but can she gain the trust of four veteran superstars who’ve been burned by the media before? Or will her dreams crumble at her feet?

He’s always ready to roll

Logan Schmidt was born an adrenaline junkie. He lives for the rush he gets from playing his bass guitar before thousands of fans. When he’s not performing on stage or in the bedroom, he’s looking for his next endorphin high in extreme sports. So what is it about the sweet and innocent journalist on their world tour that gets his heart pumping and captures his full attention? Is she the real deal or is she posing at being his perfect woman to get inside secrets on Exodus End?

They’re both ready to experiment

Though Toni was innocent the first time she climbed the bus steps, that didn’t last long once Logan set his sights on her. He’s so much more worldly than she is and she’s ready to learn how to please a lover and explore all the ways she can be pleased. Logan can’t believe his luck. Toni’s a phenomenal woman and she wants him to teach her how to rock and roll in the sack? Not exactly a burdensome task. Until she starts to get too close to his heart and takes her insider look to a place he never anticipated.

(The first book is not about Dare. It’s about the band’s bassist, Logan, and is entitled Insider. Yes, Dare will get his own book, as will all four members of the band.)

Our thoughts:

5 stars from both of us!

What did you think when you heard that Olivia Cunning had started a new rocker book series??

Jenn: First off I have to say how excited I am to have another Olivia Cunning book! I love her writing and her rock stars and I absolutely get lost in her stories and Insider was no different. I absolutely loved this book!

Wendy: There are no words to explain how excited I was to find out that Exodus End was getting its own series. After meeting Dare in the Sinners on Tour series, news of this book made me happier than you can imagine!! Reading Insider gave me that same feeling I got when I read Backstage Pass for the first time. I fell in love with Olivia Cunning all over again!!

PicsArt_1430197472925~8

What did you think of Toni:

Jenn: Toni is such a sweet and innocent young woman and my first thoughts on her were ‘oh, this poor girl’s gonna have to toughen up!’ I loved her right away though, there was something just so genuine about her heart that just makes her so likeable. She’s adorable and a bit clueless and it just works for her.

I do have to give her credit for wanting to be on a bus with rock stars, that takes some guts! And the way she handles them, a great mix of genuine heart and standing up for herself. For such a naïve girl, she certainly knows how to make Logan tick, she knows how to work her chemistry with him. One of my favorite Toni moments, aside from her brilliant socks, was her interviews with the band members. She seems to bring out things in them that they try to keep hidden and I absolutely freaking adored seeing the different sides of those men.

Wendy:  Toni brought on all the feels for me. If there was ever a character written that I can identify with, it’s her. Except she is much braver than I am!! Sweet, innocent, kind, virginal Toni on a bus, surrounded by rock stars day and night is a wonder to behold. But she works it!! The woman, and her cute little socks, is amazing!!

PicsArt_1430197472925~8

And Logan?

Jenn: I don’t even know where to start when it comes to Logan! How can you not just completely fall in love with him? He is such a wonderful combination of naughty sexy and adorable and sweet. From the beginning I just expected him to be a great match with Toni. Aside from being a bit of a manwhore when we meet him, I really struggle to find anything I didn’t like about him and it’s awesome to watch him fall in love. He brings out the naughty in Toni and she brings out his heart.

Wendy: I wrote out a whole two paragraphs about my love of Logan, but they almost identically mirrored what Jenn had to say, so I’m just going to go with what she said:  Logan is amazing!! The two of them definitely bring out the best in each other.

 PicsArt_1430197472925~8

What did you think of the over-all story?

Jenn: I really enjoyed all the aspects of this story, it totally hooked me! Toni working on the book, Logan learning what a relationship really is, the guys in the band working together – I loved all of it! There were some moments I saw coming and expected, but there were still some surprising twists that got me.

I have to admit I have a soft spot for the Mills brothers! Trey was always my favorite from the Sinners on Tour series and I loved getting to see him again in Insider. And Dare, oh holy moly I can’t wait for his book. He definitely has a story to tell.

I absolutely LOVED this book and can’t tell you how much I’ve missed Olivia Cunning, no one writes a rock star romance like she can. Insider is a new favorite and must read for me and I cannot wait for more of this group!

Wendy:

I am so glad to have another Olivia Cunning series to look forward to. I’ve missed her hot rocker men.  For me, she is THE go-to author for some rock star lovin’!! Insider is funny, so very, very HOT, and a definite must read. And, as a cherry on top of such a fantastic book, I love that you get to see more of the Sinners in it.  Because, seriously,  we ALL know that we will never get enough of those delicious men and what’s going on in their lives. Insider is a definite add to your TBR list and your bookshelves!!

Excerpt:

“Have a seat, Toni,” Dare offered. He stood and took a gym bag from her hand. He set it on the floor next to the spot he’d vacated, making it clear that Toni should sit next to Logan on the sofa. Logan loved the guy. Such a thoughtful son of a bitch. Toni’s dark eyes, hidden behind a pair of thick-rimmed glasses, scanned the interior of the bus as if searching for refuge. Apparently the seat next to Logan was not it. Dare plopped himself down in the only available recliner and extended the leg rest, as if he had no intention of moving for the night.

“Th-thanks,” Toni said, pushing her glasses up her nose with one trembling hand.

Logan wasn’t sure what she was so nervous about all of a sudden. She’d seemed perfectly at ease when they’d been interacting with their fans. Perhaps she’d taken his comment about a lamb in a den of wolves to heart. He’d only been teasing, but he found her skittishness endearing in a world where most women threw all inhibitions to the wind when in the presence of any member of his band, much less all four of them.

The bus rumbled as it rolled forward. They were on the road again. Toni’s hands flew out as the unexpected movement threw her off balance.

She plopped down beside Logan, perching on the edge of a cushion as if the sofa’s back was made of shards of glass. Logan was pretty sure she was looking for the emergency exit. Her gaze settled on Butch, who was standing next to their driver and running over a strict schedule detailing how to get them to their next show in time while making a promotional stop between venues. Their schedule never had an inch of give. Their manager, Sam, was a genius when it came to getting the band the most exposure, but he had the tendency to believe that because they were a metal band, they were made of iron. They didn’t require useless things like down time and rest.

“So tell us more about this book,” Dare said, which was apparently the exact right thing to say to Toni, because her unease evaporated instantly.

“Have you seen the new interactive electronic textbooks?” she asked, her eager gaze moving from Dare to Max to Steve.

Logan was very conscious of the fact that she didn’t look at him once. He’d thought their attraction was mutual, but maybe not. He scooted several inches closer to her because he saw something he wanted and wasn’t one to sacrifice his personal needs for the greater good.

“Textbooks?” Steve asked. “Like for school and shit?”

“Yeah, that’s usually where textbooks are used,” she said, a teasing grin on her lush lips. When no one laughed, her face fell. Logan forced a guffaw about five seconds too late. That got his bandmates laughing. Not at Toni’s understated joke. They were laughing at his blatant stupidity. Nothing new there.

“I can’t say I’ve even seen a textbook since high school,” Steve said.

“These new interactive ones are amazing. Each topic has videos and pictures and links. It presents the information in a way that gets students who are used to constant entertainment excited about learning.”

“So you’re writing a textbook about us?” Dare asked, brows drawn together in a confused scowl.

“What kind of textbook would that be? A manual on mayhem and debauchery?” Toni cringed when no one laughed at that joke either.

Logan guffawed five seconds too late again. He was going to have to pay really close attention to what she said to figure out when she was joking. He didn’t think she lacked a sense of humor, she just looked serious. She’d definitely fit in better at a library than at standup-comedy night.

“The publishing company I work for designs and distributes these interactive textbooks,” she said. “Samuel Baily approached us to make an interactive book about the band, the first of its kind. He’s very forward thinking.”

That got the band laughing. “You might say that,” Max said. “Sometimes he’s a bit too forward thinking. He’s got every minute of our schedules booked for the next eighteen years. He thinks we’re robots or something.”

Toni’s eyes bulged. “Eighteen years?” she muttered under her breath.

Surely she knew Max was joking, so why did she look so unsettled? Wondering if he could make her blush again, Logan scooted a few more inches closer to her. His knee brushed her thigh, and she yanked on her skirt. Other than her hands and face, not an inch of bare flesh was showing. He wasn’t sure exactly what she was trying to conceal. Maybe she wasn’t open to his attempts to seduce her. Which made her a challenge. Which, like her tits, he couldn’t resist. Or maybe she had a nice boyfriend at home. His loss.

“Speaking of robots,” Steve said. “How are the prototypes of our androids coming?”

“Good until they tried to replicate my dick and ran out of materials,” Logan said.

Toni’s sudden intake of breath made him grin. That shocked her? Seriously? Too easy.

“If they ran out of materials, it had to be due to Max’s giant forehead,” Steve said.

“Or your enormous feet,” Max countered.

Toni grabbed a pad of paper out of her bag and started writing furiously. Logan leaned against her shoulder to read what had her so excited. She was writing down their conversation. In the margin, she wrote: Keep video camera close at hand when all band members are together. They’re hilarious.

He was close enough to feel her body heat and inhale the sweet fragrance of her fruity shampoo. He wondered if she tasted as sweet as she smelled.

“For the record,” Logan said in her ear as he pointed toward her notes, “I was the one with the big dick.”

Toni leaped from the sofa as if it were on fire. Her gaze darted from one guy to the next, and she pushed her glasses up her nose with the back of her wrist. God, he wanted to take those glasses off, take those clothes off, and do things to her. Naughty, devious, delicious things.

“Um . . .”

The twin bumps poking against her shapeless turtleneck drew Logan’s attention.

Hard nipples? Did his crassness turn her on? That was all the encouragement he needed to behave inappropriately. Visible nipples also meant that her bra was not padded. There was so much win in that, he should have her name engraved on a trophy.

“What’s wrong?” Logan asked. “I won’t bite. But I will nibble. And suck. And lick.”

She stared at him with her mouth agape and her eyes wide. Her nipples strained against her sweater, begging him to do all those things and more to the tips of those luscious melons.

She glanced down at her tits and immediately crossed her arms over her chest. “Is, um, there a bathroom I can use?”

“At the back of the bus,” Dare said, nodding his head toward the end of the corridor.

“Don’t take a dump in there,” Steve said. “We stop at rest areas to do that business.”

Face flaming, she sucked in a deep breath, turned, and sprinted to the back of the bus. She fumbled with the closet door and when it popped open, a stack of towels that had shifted during transit tumbled out and pummeled her in the face.

Logan climbed to his feet to rescue her. He decided to take it easy on her for the moment. He wouldn’t want to traumatize her so much she decided to leave. They both bent to pick up the same towel at the same time and bumped heads. They jerked apart and rubbed their heads in unison. Toni looked up at him, her brown, doe-like eyes watery with tears. He wasn’t sure if they were tears of pain or humiliation, but seeing them in her eyes did strange things to his chest. He wasn’t sure why it was suddenly tight.

“It’s okay,” he said, deciding that though it was fun to tease her, he’d better tone it down a bit. She obviously wasn’t used to it, and he didn’t want to harass a woman who wasn’t receptive to provocative flirting. He hadn’t intended to upset her, just wanted to have a little fun and get under that conservative skirt of hers. “I’ll get the towels, Toni. You go ahead and do your business.” He opened the bathroom door for her.

She lowered her hand from her forehead to reveal a large reddened bump.

Logan winced and leaned forward to press his lips to the lump. She sucked a startled breath into her chest. Shit. There he went crossing the line again.

“Sorry,” he murmured. “I always kiss boo-boos.”

“I have a pimple on my ass that needs kissing,” Steve called.

Logan closed his eyes and shook his head. “One of the things you should consider stressing in your book is how little fucking privacy a man has while on tour with his band.”

“I can include that,” she said, “but I think fans are more interested in the size of your dick.” She backed into the bathroom. “I know I am.” She bit her lip before closing the door in his face.
